adidas Padel Overgrip, 3 Pack

Retailers list the adidas padel overgrip at 0.75 mm. The thinner Wilson Pro overgrip, HEAD's Padel Pro and Babolat's Pro Tour 2.0 and Comfort Padel are 0.60 mm, Babolat's My Overgrip is 0.55 mm, Bullpadel's comfort grip is 0.50 mm and Babolat's VS Original is 0.43 mm. adidas does not publish a thickness of its own, so the figure comes from shops and we say so.

Thickness changes the feel more than people expect. A thicker overgrip adds a little to the handle's width, which some players like for a more cushioned, bigger-handled feel and others find clumsy. It also takes a little longer to wear through.

Three strips, each 100 cm by 2.5 cm, microperforated so they take up sweat, with a tacky surface. One UK listing prints the length as 100 mm; that is almost certainly a typo, since a 10 cm wrap would not cover a handle. Retailers sell the 3 pack in white, black, orange, yellow and pink. This listing does not name a colour, so ask us if the colour matters.

The adidas site's reviews are positive, with comments about tackiness and less sweaty hands, though many of them are incentivised and carry less weight than a test. We have not found an independent review, so we do not quote a verdict.

An overgrip goes over the grip already on the racket, so you are replacing a layer that costs very little. Start at the butt end, with the sticky side to the handle, wrap upwards with a slight overlap, keep it flat and tight, and finish near the top with the tape in the pack. Two minutes, no tools.

Buying for a club? The adidas box of 45 is the same strip in bulk. Only need one? A single white strip is the same wrap. Change it when it goes smooth, shiny or hard. Players who sweat a lot may need a fresh one every few sessions; others get a month or more. Anyone who likes a thin grip. At 0.75 mm this is a chunky wrap, and on a racket with a thick handle it can feel like holding a broom. Players with small hands, and anyone who plays with a tight continental grip, usually do better on a 0.5 or 0.6 mm wrap.
