Head Hydrosorb Pro Grip, Fluorescent Yellow

£5.83

The Head Hydrosorb Pro grip, fluorescent yellow, is the bright colour of Head's cushioned replacement grip, for players who want a tacky base layer they can spot in the bag.

Underneath the colour it's the standard Hydrosorb Pro: about 1.75 mm thick, 18 g for the black one we found weighed, with a perforated dual-channel build. It's a base grip and not an overgrip.

A colour change, not a different grip

Head makes the Pro in black and white, with codes 285303 and 285304 at Central Sports, plus seasonal colours like this one. The specs belong to the model, not the colour: a high-tack elastomer surface with extra perforation over a dual-channel layer for cushioning and airflow.

We couldn't find a retailer page for the fluorescent yellow colour code, so the numbers above are from the black and white versions. Neon grips are a good call for a shared kit bag: nobody picks up yours by mistake.

Not for you if

You wanted a thin wrap to go over an existing grip. This is a base grip at about 1.75 mm.

Table of what retailers list for the Head Hydrosorb Pro grip, shown in fluorescent yellow: a replacement base grip about 1.75 millimetres thick and 18 grams, high-tack perforated dual-channel elastomer, codes 285303 and 285304 for black and white, with the yellow colour code not confirmed

Fitting and replacing

Wind it on from the butt cap with a slight overlap and tape the end. A base grip lasts months, and a wrap from padel grips takes the wear on top. For more small kit see padel accessories, and for the racket itself the padel racket page.

Keeping it clean

Bright colours hide dirt better than white but still go grey with sweat and sand. A wipe with a damp cloth between sessions is enough for a base grip, and when it hardens it's time to replace it. Spare wraps from padel grips live happily in the same pocket.

Head Hydrosorb Pro Grip, Fluorescent Yellow: questions people ask

Is the fluorescent yellow Hydrosorb Pro different from the black?

The model is the same. Only the colour changes, and we found no separate spec for yellow.

Is the Head Hydrosorb Pro an overgrip?

No. It's a replacement grip at about 1.75 mm.

Will a neon grip show through a white overgrip?

A thin overgrip can show some of the colour beneath it, so a bright base may tint a white wrap.

How long does a Hydrosorb Pro last?

Much longer than an overgrip. Change it when it hardens or goes smooth under a fresh wrap.
