Stiga 18K X Hard Cybershape Padel Racket
£297
The Stiga 18K X Hard Cybershape padel racket is, in STIGA Sports' words, the most powerful racket it has built, aimed at experienced players with a competitive, offensive game. A Swedish stockist lists 360 g with a tolerance of 8 g, a medium balance and a harder Power Foam core it calls extra hard and explosive.
It asks for good technique, and we found no independent test. The face and frame are not described in detail and no thickness is published, so the page sticks to what STIGA and the stockist say.
- Cybershape hexagonal head

Which level is the Stiga 18K X Hard Cybershape Padel Racket for?
By Tushan Das, Owner, Padel Depot · Updated
What makes the X Hard the hard one
Start with the core. STIGA's press release calls the X Hard its most powerful racket, with a stiffer build meant to keep control at higher pace and suit a more offensive style. The stockist puts it more bluntly: an extra hard, explosive core, an explosive response, and a demand for good technique from whoever is holding it.
The surface layers come from the 18K series, so the carbon face feels related to the other 18K rackets, and the shape is the usual Cybershape hexagon with an asymmetric frame and a replaceable wrist strap. STIGA says the head gives a sweet spot about 20 per cent larger than a round racket's. That number is the brand's own, and the stockist adds only that the sweet spot is larger.

Same weight as the Hard 2, different feel
Here is the odd part. On the stockist's sheets the X Hard and the 18K Hard 2 share a 360 g weight, yet the Hard 2 is listed with a high balance and the X Hard with a medium one. So the racket billed as the most powerful is not the most head-heavy. Its power is said to come from the core, not from weight sitting in the top of the head.
That may make it easier to swing than the Hard 2 suggests, though a harder core still passes more shock to the arm. The 18K 2 shares the weight and the medium balance but has a softer ball contact, which is the one to look at if the X Hard sounds like more than you need.
| Racket | Balance and core | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|
| 18K X Hard (this racket) | Medium, harder Power Foam, explosive | Experienced competitive players |
| 18K Hard 2 | High, higher-density foam, stiff | Experienced attackers |
| 18K 2 | Medium, core not stated, softer contact | Players who build points |
| 18K LW 2 | 345 g, softer contact, arm-friendly | Lighter players, sore arms |

The Adam Axelsson edition
STIGA also sells the racket as a signature edition for the player Adam Axelsson, listed in our range as the 18K X Hard Adam Axelsson Edition. We have not seen a sheet that says what differs from this one beyond the artwork and name, so do not assume a different spec. The plain version here is the one to compare against the rest of the line.
Who should skip the 18K X Hard
Improving players, and anyone with a history of elbow trouble. A harder core with an explosive response is built for people who already hit clean and want the racket to add pace, and it will not forgive a late swing. The best padel racket for intermediate players page lists friendlier rackets, and the diamond padel racket page covers other attackers if you want to compare.
Not for you if
You want a gentle racket or a tested one. The stockist says it demands good technique, no independent review exists, and the face, frame and thickness are not described in detail. The 18K LW 2 is the softer, lighter Cybershape.
Setting up the 18K X Hard
A firm core is easier on the hand with a fresh grip, so start with a tacky wrap from the padel grips page, and add frame tape from the racket protector range before the first match. Lively balls from the padel balls page suit a racket that adds its own pace.
A bag with a shoe pocket such as the Babolat RH Pro keeps sand off the kit, and the padel shoes page covers court shoes. See the advanced padel rackets list for other brands, the full padel racket range, and our guide to choosing a padel racket.
