What the transparent protector is
The tape is meant to take the knocks from walls and the floor on the upper frame, so the carbon underneath stays intact. A listing for the round Vibor-A tape gives a thickness of about 0.35 to 0.40 mm and says it does not change the racket balance, though that is a seller claim.
We have assumed our listing is the round transparent model. Vibor-A also makes a smaller Spot Transparent and toothed transparents, which are different products.
Clear against coloured
If you want a colour that matches a racket, the blue Yarara protector is the option. For another brand there is the Dunlop protection tape.
You can compare all of them on our padel racket protector page.
| Protector | Look | Pick it if |
|---|---|---|
| Transparent (this page) | Clear | You want the racket to look unchanged |
| Yarara blue | Blue, textured | You want a coloured guard |
| Dunlop protection tape | See page | You want another brand |
Looks from retailer descriptions.
Who should skip it
Players who want a heavy-duty guard, since the thickness is listed as thin. If you are still choosing a racket, see our padel racket range and our guide to choosing a padel racket.
Not for you if
