What the Shock Shield Hybrid is
A replacement grip takes the place of the factory base grip, unlike an overgrip, which wraps over it. This one adds a gel layer that is meant to damp vibration, with a slightly tacky PU surface on top.
One retailer describes the blend as PU and Iso-Zorb gel. A tennis reviewer measured the tennis version at about 2.0 mm, but that is a different grip, so treat it only as a rough hint of how thick a gel replacement grip runs.
Shock Shield against the Tourna and Wilson options
If you want a thick, cushioned base grip look at the Tourna Pro Gel, which sellers list at about 2 mm. For a wrap on top, the Wilson Pro overgrip 3 pack is the standard choice.
