adidas Metalbone Carbon Ctrl 3.3 Padel Racket (2024)

£113.11

The adidas Metalbone Carbon Ctrl 3.3 is the 2024 edition of adidas's round control racket, built for intermediate players who want a quick, tidy carbon racket without a diamond's demands. It has a 6K carbon face, an EVA Soft Performance core, a weight of 360 to 375 g and a 38 mm profile.

It is last season's racket now, which is the main reason to look at it. The hardware matches the 2026 version on paper, so the question is whether the older model's reviews and feel are good enough for your game. This page lays out what the 2024 scores say and where they disagree.

Metalbone Carbon Ctrl 3.3 review: quick, with a few caveats

The padel.fyi page for the 2024 Metalbone Carbon Ctrl averages three expert reviews. Manoeuvrability is the standout at 8.3. Power comes in at 7.3, a bit better than the reviewers expected from a control racket, and control, sweet spot and comfort all sit at 7.0.

Testers say it stays controlled at low and medium speeds and turns reactive when you hit harder. Spin is easy to produce, although the scorecard gives it only 5.0. The same page flags the weak spot: the sweet spot is standard-sized, and off-centre hits feel more reactive, with strong vibration on aerial shots and blocks.

That vibration note matters if you have a sore elbow. A racket with a soft core and a carbon face is not automatically gentle on the arm, so if comfort is the reason you are buying a control racket, read the next section before you commit.

Bar chart of padel.fyi scores for the 2024 adidas Metalbone Carbon CTRL: manoeuvrability 8.3, power 7.3, control 7.0, sweet spot 7.0, comfort 7.0, spin 5.0

Carbon Ctrl 3.3 or the 2026 racket?

On the spec sheets the two are twins: round, carbon 6K, EVA Soft Performance, 360 to 375 g. The newer racket, the Metalbone Carbon Ctrl 2026, scores 8.6 on Padelful against 7.4 to 7.7 for the 2024 model on padel.fyi. Those are different sites with different scales, so do not read the gap as exact.

Balance is where sources split. All For Padel, the adidas licensee, lists the 3.3 as even. padel.fyi measured its test sample as head light at 26.2 cm. We cannot tell you which is right for your sample, so treat it as medium and light-feeling, not head-heavy.

If the 2026 racket is in budget, take it. If the saving on the 2024 one matters, it is a perfectly playable racket for a control-minded intermediate.

Who should skip the Carbon Ctrl 3.3

Anyone chasing spin or a big overhead, and anyone with arm trouble. padel.fyi's testers found the sweet spot standard and the miss-hits harsh. Players who want forgiveness should look at the fibreglass Metalbone Team Light or the beginner padel racket page, and those who want pace should try the advanced padel rackets.

Not for you if

You need the softest possible feel for an elbow, or you want a forgiving first racket. Reviewers reported strong vibration on off-centre aerial shots and blocks.

Setting up a 2024 Metalbone

The textured Spin Blade surface wears with use, so keep the face clean and fit a racket protector on day one. adidas' antishock tape is an easy way to start, and a fresh adidas overgrip helps with grip feel; more choices are on the padel grips page.

Pair it with padel shoes that suit your court, and adidas Speed RX balls and see our padel balls page for how long a tube lasts. More round options are on the control padel rackets page, mid-level choices on intermediate padel rackets, and any reduced rackets on the padel racket sale page. Our guide to choosing a padel racket and the full padel racket range cover the rest.

adidas Metalbone Carbon Ctrl 3.3 Padel Racket (2024): questions people ask

Is the Metalbone Carbon Ctrl 3.3 the same as the Metalbone Carbon 3.3?

No. The Carbon Ctrl is round. The Carbon 3.3 is a different, head-heavy diamond. padel.fyi calls the Ctrl a round variant of the Carbon 3.3 without its weight and balance system.

Is the Carbon Ctrl 3.3 the same racket as the 2026 Carbon Ctrl?

Not the same racket, but close on paper. Both are round with a 6K carbon face and EVA Soft Performance core in the 360 to 375 g band. adidas dropped the 3.3 number after 2024.

Is the adidas Metalbone Carbon Ctrl 3.3 good for intermediate players?

Yes, that is who the reviewers suggest it for: versatile intermediates, or advanced players on the left. It works at low and medium speeds and gets reactive when you hit harder.

Is the Carbon Ctrl 3.3 head heavy?

No source calls it head heavy. The licensee lists it as even and padel.fyi measured a sample as head light, so expect a quick, balanced racket.

Does the Metalbone Carbon Ctrl 3.3 vibrate?

On off-centre shots it can. padel.fyi reports strong vibration on aerial shots and blocks when you miss the sweet spot, which is a point against it if your elbow is sensitive.

How long will a carbon padel racket last?

Most players get a season or two of heavy use before the face loses life. Protect the frame, avoid hot cars and replace it when the response goes dull.
