adidas Metalbone Team Light 2026 Padel Racket

£147.99

The adidas Metalbone Team Light is a round, fibreglass-faced padel racket at 345 to 360 g, with a soft EVA core and a medium balance that reviewers call manageable rather than head-heavy. It is for lighter players, improvers and anyone who wants the Metalbone name with quick hands and a forgiving feel.

Padelful scores it 8.2 overall, led by manoeuvrability (8.6), control (8.5) and rebound (8.5). The number to remember is power: 7.1, which is the price of a light, soft frame.

adidas Metalbone Team Light review: quick, centred and forgiving

Padelful's testers describe a racket that is quick through the air, with a forgiving, centred sweet spot and clean blocks and volleys at the net. Short reviews from other sources in the same vein call it highly manoeuvrable, very agile and easy to swing. A round head, a light frame and a soft face do that for you.

What it does not do is hit. Reviewers note less punch on overheads and that you have to work to create free depth. It is a racket for players who build the point with placement and quick reactions, not for those who want a big smash.

You might ask why anyone would want a Metalbone with no bite. A lot of players do: the softer, less harsh feel of a fibreglass face is easier on an arm than the stiff carbon models.

Team Light, Team or Carbon Ctrl?

The Metalbone Team is the diamond version of this racket, heavier at 360 to 375 g and head-heavy, with power at 7.9 against the Light's 7.1 but handling that scores 7.8 against 8.6. The Metalbone Carbon Ctrl is the round carbon step up: similar control, much better rebound, and a 6K face that costs more.

If you want carbon in a light round racket, the Cross It Light has a 24K face. If you are unsure, the Team Light is the one to start on. Pick the Team if you finish points and want help, and the Carbon Ctrl if your fibreglass racket has started to feel dead.

Where it sits among adidas light rackets

adidas makes several light rackets with the same 345 to 360 g band. The Metalbone Superlight is the more basic one, the RX Series Light and Match Light are beginner models, and the Team Light is the one with the most Metalbone character and the best handling scores. All are fibreglass; this one is the step up in feel.

The sheet also lists a 0 to 11.2 g weight system across the 2026 range. We could not confirm from adidas whether the Light has removable weights, so check the box if you plan to tune it.

Who should skip the Metalbone Team Light

Anyone who wants a heavy smash, a sharp carbon feel or the firmer Metalbone response. Padelful lists those as the groups it does not suit. A player with a long swing who lives on overheads will find it light-hitting, and our diamond padel rackets page has the heavier options.

Not for you if

You want heavy smash weight, you want the stiff carbon feel of the 16K Metalbone, or you already hit hard and want a racket to match. The Team or the Metalbone will give you more.

Setting up a Metalbone Team Light

A light racket still hits the glass: fit a racket protector. A tacky overgrip such as the adidas 3-pack helps you keep control of a quick head, and the padel grips page has more. Fresh adidas Speed RX balls and our padel balls guide help with depth.

Add padel shoes for sand-filled turf, carry the lot in a padel bag, and see the control padel rackets page for round rackets from other brands. If you are new, the beginner padel racket page and our guide to choosing a padel racket start from the basics, and the padel racket range covers the rest.

adidas Metalbone Team Light 2026 Padel Racket: questions people ask

Is the adidas Metalbone Team Light the same as the Metalbone Team?

No. The Team is a head-heavy diamond at 360 to 375 g; the Team Light is round at 345 to 360 g. Both have a fibreglass face and a Soft Performance core.

Is the Metalbone Team Light good for beginners?

It can be, especially for lighter players. The round head, light frame and soft face are forgiving, though a dedicated beginner racket such as the RX Series is simpler.

How does the Team Light compare with the Metalbone Carbon Ctrl?

Both are round control rackets. The Carbon Ctrl has a 6K carbon face and a heavier frame, with better rebound; the Team Light is lighter and has a fibreglass face.

Does the Metalbone Team Light have much power?

Not much. Padelful scores power at 7.1 and reviewers note less punch on overheads. It is a control and handling racket.

Is the Metalbone Team Light the same as the Metalbone Light?

Players often search for the Metalbone Light and mean this racket, since Team Light is its full name. Check the listing for the word Team.

How do I look after a fibreglass racket?

Use a protector, avoid hot cars and wipe the face after damp sessions. Fibreglass is tougher than it looks, but heat and glass hits shorten its life.

Still comparing? The full range of padel rackets sits on one page, sorted by level, shape and weight, and the best padel racket for intermediate players page narrows it to your level.
