adidas Metalbone Team 2026 Padel Racket

£108.74

The adidas Metalbone Team is the fibreglass diamond in the Metalbone range: a head-heavy racket at 360 to 375 g with a fibreglass face over an EVA Soft Performance core, built for improving players who want a taste of attacking padel without the stiff, unforgiving feel of a carbon diamond.

Padelful scores it 8.0 overall, with nothing above 8.3 and nothing below 7.8. That evenness is the point. It is a diamond that forgives more than it should, and it costs a fraction of the carbon Metalbones.

adidas Metalbone Team review: a diamond that does not bite

Padelful's testers found easy power on overheads, a comfortable impact and a generous sweet spot for the shape, and one German review called it more forgiving than a diamond usually is. Another source describes it as an accessible version of Metalbone performance. Those lines fit the build: fibreglass is a softer, less springy face than carbon, so the ball comes off slower and mishits sting less.

That softness is also what you give up. Reviewers say it is less crisp than the carbon builds and less agile in defence, and it asks for cleaner timing than a round racket would. Head-heavy plus fibreglass means a racket that carries through the ball, not one that whips it.

If you are not sure whether a diamond suits you, this is the lowest-priced way in the Metalbone range to find out.

Metalbone Team, Carbon or the full Metalbone?

Step up the range and the numbers climb. The Metalbone Carbon puts a 6K carbon face on the same diamond and adds rebound and power. The Metalbone uses a 16K face and scores higher still on power and control. What the Team keeps is a sweet spot that is not far behind, and a feel that is kinder to the arm.

Level labels differ between shops: Tennis Warehouse Europe lists beginner to intermediate, Tennis Nuts lists advanced, and the All For Padel sheet says intermediate. We would call it an improver's racket and not a first one.

Team or Team Light?

Not the same racket in two weights. The Metalbone Team Light is round, not a diamond, with a medium balance and a 345 to 360 g frame. The Team is the one that hits harder; the Light is the one that moves faster and defends more easily. Pick the Light if your first goal is consistency, and the Team if you already finish points and want help doing it.

Who should skip the Metalbone Team

Defenders, anyone who wants a crisp, fast racket, and anyone coming straight from a round racket without a plan for the extra head weight. A first-time player should start on something rounder; our beginner padel rackets page has the options. The older fibreglass Metalbone 09 is a 2025 diamond with a narrow sweet spot. For children, there was a 2024 Metalbone Youth 3.3.

Not for you if

You rely on quick defensive reactions, you want a crisp response from a carbon face, or you want a forgiving round head. The Team Light or the Metalbone Carbon Ctrl will suit you better.

Setting up a Metalbone Team

Fit a racket protector before you play, and tape the frame with adidas' antishock tape if you like. A fresh adidas overgrip pack keeps the head from twisting in your hand, and the padel grips page covers the others.

Try adidas Speed RX balls and read how long a tube lasts on our padel balls page. Add a bag from the padel bags range and padel shoes that grip sand-filled turf.

Browse every attacking frame on the diamond padel rackets page, see where the Team sits on advanced padel rackets when you want to move up, and use the guide to choosing a padel racket if the shapes are new. The full padel racket range is one click away.

adidas Metalbone Team 2026 Padel Racket: questions people ask

Is the adidas Metalbone Team the same as the Metalbone?

No. The Metalbone has a 16K aluminised carbon face and weighs 345 to 360 g. The Team has a fibreglass face and weighs 360 to 375 g. Both are head-heavy diamonds.

Is the adidas Metalbone Team a good racket for beginners?

Not usually. It is a head-heavy diamond, which asks for clean timing. A round racket such as the Team Light is a gentler place to start.

What is the difference between the Metalbone Team and the Team Light?

Shape and weight. The Team is a diamond at 360 to 375 g; the Team Light is round at 345 to 360 g. Both use a fibreglass face.

Is the Metalbone Team a power racket?

In the Metalbone range it is the softest of the diamonds. Padelful rates power at 7.9 and says overheads come easily, but carbon rackets score higher.

Will the Metalbone Team tire my arm?

It is head-heavy, so a long session can load the arm. The fibreglass face and soft core make it gentler than a carbon diamond, though no diamond is arm-friendly.

How long does a fibreglass padel racket last?

A couple of seasons of regular play with a protector and sensible storage. Heat and glass impacts wear it out faster than ordinary play.
