adidas Metalbone 09 Padel Racket (2025)

£162.50

The adidas Metalbone 09 padel racket is a head-heavy diamond for advanced players who want to finish points from the net. PadelRacketReviews lists it as a 2025 model with a fibreglass face, an EVA Soft Performance core and a weight of 360 to 375 g, and scores it 84 out of 100.

It is not the 2026 Metalbone, which has a carbon face and a different weight band. That distinction matters because our listing carries no year, so check the details with us before you order. One review site covers it, and nothing explains what the 09 means.

Metalbone 09 review: overhead punch, narrow window

PadelRacketReviews describes genuine overhead punch from a face that softens contact without blunting the output. Power scores 82 and value 82. Control holds at 76 in volleys and back-court punch drives, manoeuvrability is 72 and comfort 70.

The weak points are the usual ones for a head-heavy diamond. The sweet spot scores 69 and the review says the hitting window is narrower than it looks, so mishits lose pace and direction quickly. Comfort of 70 may fatigue arm-sensitive players in long sessions, and the head-heavy balance takes time to adjust to for fast net exchanges.

The verdict is blunt: aimed squarely at advanced players who want to finish points from the net, and not for players still building their game. Two other sites are quoted with scores of 83 and 86, which agree on the picture.

Metalbone 09 or the 2026 Metalbone?

The shape and balance match, but the face does not. The 09 has a fibreglass face and a 360 to 375 g weight; the 2026 Metalbone has a 16K carbon face, a 345 to 360 g base weight and a weight system. PadelRacketReviews lists the 2026 racket at 90 against 84 here.

On that evidence the 09 is the softer choice and the 2026 racket the higher-scoring one. If you want a less demanding diamond from the same family, the Metalbone Team is the fibreglass option in the current range, and the Metalbone Carbon is the 6K one. The limited Metalbone Pro Edition is the 16K special version.

Who should skip the Metalbone 09

Anyone still building their game, anyone with a sensitive elbow and anyone who wants a forgiving sweet spot. A narrow hitting window punishes timing errors, and long sessions will test the arm. Round rackets on the control padel rackets page are kinder, and the intermediate padel rackets page covers the step before a diamond.

Not for you if

You want a forgiving sweet spot, an easy arm or the current carbon Metalbone. The 09 has a narrow sweet spot and a fibreglass face, and our listing has no year, so check before you buy.

Setting up a diamond racket

Fit a racket protector and a fresh adidas overgrip; the padel grips page has other options. adidas Speed RX balls and the padel balls guide cover the rest, and padel shoes help when you smash from the net.

More power rackets are on the diamond padel rackets and advanced padel rackets pages, our guide to choosing a padel racket explains the trade-offs, and the full padel racket range covers the rest.

adidas Metalbone 09 Padel Racket (2025): questions people ask

What does 09 mean on the adidas Metalbone?

No source we found explains it. PadelRacketReviews lists the Metalbone 09 as a 2025 model, after the 3.3 in 2024 and the 3.4 in 2025, before adidas moved to model years.

Is the Metalbone 09 the same as the 2026 Metalbone?

No. The 09 is listed with a fibreglass face at 360 to 375 g. The 2026 Metalbone has a 16K carbon face and a 345 to 360 g base weight.

Is the Metalbone 09 a carbon or fibreglass racket?

Fibreglass, per PadelRacketReviews. That conflicts with the carbon faces on the 2026 Metalbone range, so check the listing.

Only strong, attacking intermediates. The review calls it aimed squarely at advanced players, with a narrow sweet spot.

Is the Metalbone 09 head heavy?

Yes. The review lists a head-heavy balance with no millimetre figure.

Will the Metalbone 09 hurt my arm?

It can. The review scores comfort at 70 and warns arm-sensitive players that long sessions may fatigue the arm.
