Ashaway Super Tacky Overgrip (3-Pack)

£5.89

The Ashaway Super Tacky overgrip is a sticky, absorbent overgrip sold three to a card, for padel players whose hands stay fairly dry and who want the racket locked in place without squeezing it.

Retailers describe it as universal size, so it wraps any padel handle length. What nobody publishes is a thickness, so if you're fussy about handle size, wrap one before you commit.

Tacky first, absorbent second

Ashaway's own pitch is short: better absorbency, extra tackiness for a non-slip feel, and a comfortable grip material. On court that translates to a wrap that grabs your palm from the first rally, which helps anyone who tends to throttle the handle to stop it turning. A relaxed grip is a faster swing, and tack is the cheap way to get there.

Tacky grips have a known weak spot, though. Once they're soaked they lose their bite faster than a dry, matte grip does. If your hands sweat heavily, or you mostly play outdoors in summer, look at a drier finish in our padel grip range instead.

Super Tacky against other overgrips we stock

Most overgrips come three to a pack, so the real differences are feel and thickness. HEAD's Padel Pro overgrip publishes 0.60mm, the Polyfibre Feel It is sold as ultra thin, and Bullpadel's GB1200 Comfort is a thinner, absorbent 0.5mm.

Fitting it and when to change it

Wrap from the butt of the handle upwards, overlapping each turn slightly and keeping steady tension, then secure the end with finishing tape. One overgrip on top of the base grip adds a little to the handle's thickness; two will make it noticeably chunkier, so try one first.

Change it when it stops feeling sticky or starts to shine; our grip guide puts a tacky overgrip at roughly 4 to 8 sessions of 90 minutes. A spare in your padel bag saves a slippery third set. If you've just bought a new padel racket, wrapping a fresh overgrip on day one also protects the original grip underneath.

Ashaway Super Tacky Overgrip (3-Pack): questions people ask

How many overgrips come in an Ashaway Super Tacky pack?

Three, on a single card. Padel Shack's product code for it ends in 3P, and other UK sellers list it as a pack of three.

Is the Ashaway Super Tacky overgrip good for sweaty hands?

It is absorbent, but it is first a tacky grip, and tacky grips lose their bite once soaked. Players with very sweaty hands usually do better with a dry, matte overgrip.

Ashaway Super Tacky or HEAD Padel Pro overgrip?

Both are tacky three-packs. HEAD publishes a 0.60mm thickness; Ashaway does not publish one, so the HEAD is the safer choice if you need to know exactly how much it adds to the handle.

How often should I change an Ashaway Super Tacky overgrip?

When it stops feeling sticky or looks shiny. As a rough guide, tacky overgrips last about 4 to 8 ninety-minute sessions, fewer in hot weather.
