Babolat BL.002 Padel Racket (Lamborghini Limited Edition)

£650

The Babolat BL.002 padel racket is the limited-edition racket Babolat makes with Lamborghini: a 3K carbon-faced racket at about 360 g, with a carbon frame, an EVA core and a thermoplastic top sheet, aimed at advanced and professional players. It is a premium and collectable racket, and retailers say plainly that it is not for beginners.

We read two retailer listings and found no Babolat sheet and no independent test, and the listings disagree on the head shape, the balance and the exact weight. This page says what they agree on and shows where they differ, rather than picking one.

The BL.002 comes in several colours and editions, and our catalogue lists more than one of them.

What the BL.002 listings agree on

Both listings describe a 3K carbon face, a carbon frame and an EVA core, with Koridion shock-absorbing foam between the core and frame. They agree on the technology list: P.O.D., Babolat's Power On Demand system for the BL line, TPS, a thermoplastic TPU top sheet that protects the carbon layer and adds comfort, and an isometric-style head with a specific drilling pattern for a larger sweet spot and more twist weight.

Both also pitch it at advanced players, with Padelgids adding professional players and saying it is not intended for beginners. It is sold as a limited edition with Lamborghini branding, in a limited-edition box.

Where the listings differ

Tennisnuts lists an isometric head with a 360 g weight (give or take 10), a 265 to 270 mm balance point, a 38 mm thickness and a multi-layer EVA core. Padelgids lists a diamond at about 365 g with a high balance, a Bio EVA core and a 100 per cent carbon monocoque frame, and gives no thickness.

An isometric head, a diamond head and a high balance are not the same thing, though they point the same way: a racket with weight toward the top, built to attack. A balance of 265 to 270 mm is high by padel standards, so the two listings may be describing the same racket in different words. We cannot say more without Babolat's own sheet, so check the listing you buy from.

Who should skip the BL.002

Almost everyone who is not an advanced player or a collector. A head-heavy, hard-wearing carbon racket at this level is built for players who finish at the net, and a premium and limited edition is a poor way to find out whether you like a diamond. If you are still developing, the best padel racket for intermediate players page lists friendlier rackets.

Not for you if

You want a tested, documented racket or are still developing. We found no Babolat sheet and no independent test, and the listings disagree on shape and balance. The diamond padel racket page lists tested alternatives.

Setting up a BL.002

A hard carbon racket needs a cushioned grip. An overgrip such as the Babolat VS overgrip adds tack, and our padel grips page explains when to replace instead. Fit frame tape from the racket protector range, which also helps a collectable racket keep its finish. The same racket is also sold in the Bronze colourway.

Fresh balls matter for any racket, so a box of Babolat Ace balls is a natural partner, and the padel balls page explains how fast pressure fades. The padel bags and padel shoes pages complete the kit, and the full padel racket range, the advanced padel rackets list and our guide to choosing a padel racket put it in context.

Babolat BL.002 Padel Racket (Lamborghini Limited Edition): questions people ask

Is the Babolat BL.002 made by Lamborghini?

It is a collaboration. Retailers describe it as made by Babolat with Lamborghini and carrying Lamborghini branding, in a limited edition.

Is the Babolat BL.002 a diamond or an isometric racket?

Tennisnuts lists an isometric head and Padelgids a diamond. Both describe weight toward the top of the head.

How heavy is the Babolat BL.002?

Tennisnuts lists 360 g with a 10 g tolerance and Padelgids about 365 g.

Is the Babolat BL.002 good for beginners?

No. Retailers aim it at advanced and professional players, and Padelgids says it is not intended for beginners.

Why do the BL.002 listings disagree?

We cannot confirm it. The racket comes in several limited-edition colours and years, and retailers may be describing different versions or using different wording. Babolat's own sheet would settle it.
