The Black Crown frame protection tape is a black roll of 50 metres, cut to length and fitted by hand: a trade-size supply for a club, a coach or a stringer, and not a protector you buy for one racket. Padel Shack lists it under the code PBLAFRP50 and gives the roll a weight of 2.5 kg.

That is nearly all the shop publishes. Width, thickness, material and fitting instructions are not on the page, so we do not state them. For a single racket, a pre-shaped protector is simpler.

A roll or a pre-shaped protector?

Padel Nuestro draws the line clearly: a frame protector is a strip pre-shaped to the curve of the racket edge, while protection tape is rolled on by hand and trimmed to size. Pre-shaped is the easier option for most players. A roll earns its place when you protect many rackets, or want to cut your own lengths.

Who should skip it

Almost every individual player. If you have one racket, a roll of fifty metres is a lot of tape, and the missing width and thickness make it hard to judge. Start with a pre-shaped protector or a single strip such as the HEAD Antishock Skin. For a club that wants pre-shaped strips in bulk, the Drop Shot 50 unit tub is the alternative. What to buy for a single racket

For one racket, a pre-shaped protector is the simpler route: peel, stick, play. The Vibranium frame protector is another Black Crown option, and the tape on this page is better kept for a workshop. Whichever you fit, do it before the first session, because glass and fence scrapes start on day one and a protector cannot undo them.

A protector will not make a racket last for ever. It takes the scrapes on the head and leaves the face and core to age normally, which is still worth having on a racket that cost real money.
