Bullpadel Custom Weight 4 x 3 Grams

£11.19

The Bullpadel Custom Weight 4 x 3 grams pack is four gel plates that fit on the top of a padel racket's frame, each adding 3g, for players who want a light racket to hit a little heavier without buying a new one.

Fit all four and you've added 12g where it counts most for the smash. Fit one and you've added 3g you may barely notice. That range is the point: you tune in small steps and stop when the racket feels right.

  • Up to 12 g in total
  • Fits the upper frame
  • Gel plates, carbon-look finish
  • Adds frame protection too

What 12 grams at the top of the frame actually does

Weight near the tip matters far more than weight near the handle. A few grams up there raise the balance point and make the head swing through with more mass, which is why tour players fiddle with lead tape and why a 3g plate feels like more than 3g. Expect a heavier smash and a steadier volley against hard hitters. Expect, too, a racket that's slightly slower to bring round at the net, and a little more work for your shoulder over a long session.

Tennis Nuts, which lists this pack, describes it as frame protection and balance tuning in one, with the plates guarding the top of the frame against knocks. Neither the retailer nor the snippets we could read from Bullpadel's own listing say exactly how the plates attach, so we won't guess. Fitting needs no specialist tools.

Adding weight without ruining a racket you like

Start with one plate at the very top, play two sessions, then decide. If the smash feels better and your arm doesn't complain, add a second. Going straight to 12g is the quickest way to end up peeling plates back off. The racket rules allow this sort of thing: the FIP lets players stick objects on a frame to limit wear, vibration or to distribute weight, as long as they're a reasonable size and position.

This is most useful on a racket that's a touch light for you. Our women's padel racket guide explains why buying the lighter version and adding weight later is the safer order, and the intermediate racket page covers the same trick with lead tape.

When to leave it in the box

If you're already on a head-heavy diamond, more weight at the top just makes a demanding racket harder to play. The same goes for anyone nursing an elbow or a shoulder: more swing weight means more load on every shot, and the softer, lower-balance options on our control padel racket page are a better fix than tuning a heavy frame.

Not for you if

You want the plates purely as protection. A clear padel racket protector guards the frame for less and adds almost no weight.

Goes well with

Most players who tune a racket also refresh the grip, since a new overgrip changes the feel in the hand as much as a plate changes it at the head; the padel grip page compares them. The rest of the small kit, from covers to pressurisers, is on our padel accessories page, and the Bullpadel rackets page explains which frames already sit high in balance before you add anything.

Bullpadel Custom Weight 4 x 3 Grams: questions people ask

Is the Bullpadel Custom Weight 4 x 3 grams pack the same as the Protector Custom Weight?

This listing is the four-plate pack. Bullpadel has also sold a Protector Custom Weight as three plates on a different card, so check the plate count when you buy.

Will the Bullpadel Custom Weight plates fit a racket from another brand?

They sit on the top of the frame rather than in a Bullpadel-only slot, according to the retailer listing, but Bullpadel does not publish a compatibility list. If your frame edge is unusually narrow or textured, check before fitting.

Is 12g too much to add to a padel racket?

For most club players, yes, at least at first. Start with one 3g plate, play two sessions and add more only if the racket still feels quick at the net.

How do Custom Weight plates compare with lead tape?

Lead tape is cheaper and can go anywhere on the frame. The plates are neater, come in fixed 3g steps and double as protection on the top of the frame.

Are racket weights legal in padel competitions?

The FIP rules allow objects on the racket to limit wear or vibration or to distribute weight, provided they are reasonable in size and position. A few plates on the frame fit that.
