Head Anti-Shock Skin Tape

£7

Head Anti-Shock Skin tape is a thin polyurethane tape that protects the frame of a padel racket from scrapes, for players who don't want to change how the racket feels.

Racquet Depot's copy for the padel Antishock Skin gives 6 g and 0.35 mm, and a Greek retailer says its coating helps absorb shocks. We couldn't find the roll length or width, and Head's tennis protection tape is a separate product.

What the tape is for

Padel frames take knocks from the floor, the glass and the fence, and this tape takes the scrape in the racket's place. Retailers describe it as a layer you replace when it wears, instead of a frame that's scored for good.

The 6 g and 0.35 mm figures come from Racquet Depot's copy for the padel Antishock Skin, since Head's own page wasn't available to us. 6 g is light enough that it shouldn't move the balance much. Treat the shock-absorbing line as marketing language, not a measured result.

Not for you if

You want heavy-duty frame armour or a stated roll length. The tape is thin, and we couldn't find its dimensions.

Table of what retailers list for the Head Antishock Skin tape: about 6 grams and 0.35 millimetres thick from Racquet Depot, polyurethane per retailers, wear layer on the frame head, with pack contents, width and length not published

Fitting it

Clean the frame first, then lay the tape along the top edge and smooth it down without stretching. Replace it when it's chewed. For a full run of options see our padel racket protector page, and padel accessories for the rest of the small kit. Protecting a new padel racket is the best reason to buy it.

Add the rest

Add a fresh overgrip from padel grips and a padel bag with a racket compartment.

Head Anti-Shock Skin Tape: questions people ask

What is Head Anti-Shock Skin tape for?

It protects the frame of a padel racket from scrapes. Retailers describe it as a layer you replace instead of the frame.

How thick is the Head Antishock Skin tape?

Racquet Depot's copy lists 0.35 mm and 6 g. We couldn't confirm it with Head.

Is Head Anti-Shock Skin the same as Head protection tape?

No. Retailers list a padel Antishock Skin and a separate tennis protection tape sold as a roll to cut.

Does the tape change the racket's balance?

At about 6 g it adds little, though any tape adds a little weight where you put it.
