The Head Core Ultimate padel bag is HEAD's plain, no-frills racket bag: two main compartments that take two rackets each, an accessory pocket on the front and padded, adjustable straps, in white and grey polyester. It's for players who want their rackets carried safely and don't need a thermal lining or a shoe tunnel.

At 53 × 24 × 31 cm it's smaller than most racket bags with a size letter on them. That's the point: it sits under a bench or on a back seat without swallowing the boot.

What's inside a Core Ultimate

Open it up and there are two long compartments side by side, each sized for two padel rackets, with a smaller accessory pocket on the front for keys, a phone and a spare overgrip. HEAD makes it in polyester with reinforced seams. That's the whole list. No lining, no separate shoe section, no laundry bag.

HEAD doesn't give a capacity in litres. The outside measures 53 × 24 × 31 cm, which is shorter and slimmer than HEAD's own 30-litre Base Bag M, so think of it as a racket bag first and a kit bag second. Two rackets, a tube of balls, a towel and a water bottle fit comfortably. A pair of court shoes will fit in the second compartment if you're carrying only two rackets.

What you give up, and when it matters

The thing you miss most is a thermal compartment. Rackets left in a cold car on a January morning play dead for a game or two, and a hot boot in July is worse for the foam. A lined bag such as the Coello Tour Bag L slows that down. Without one, bring the bag indoors between games and keep your racket in a racket cover inside it.

The second is a shoe pocket. Padel courts are sand-dressed turf, and the sand rides home in the tread. If your shoes go in this bag, put them in a carrier bag first. Players who want a proper shoe section and room for six rackets should look at the Base Bag M, or the much bigger 59.5-litre Pro X duffle with its laundry bag.

Not for you if

You carry more than four rackets, you want somewhere separate for wet shoes, or your rackets spend the week in the car. A larger, lined bag earns its extra size.

Keeping white fabric white

White and grey looks sharp in the shop and less so after a winter of wet car parks. Wipe the base with a damp cloth after muddy sessions rather than machine-washing the bag, empty the sand out of the compartments now and then, and don't leave a damp towel zipped inside overnight. If that sounds like too much effort, the black and orange version hides more.

Does the Head Core Ultimate have a thermal compartment?

No. There is no thermal lining, so bring the bag indoors on very hot or cold days and keep rackets in a cover inside it.

How do I clean a white padel bag?

Wipe it with a damp cloth and mild soap, shake the sand out of the compartments, and let it dry open. Avoid the washing machine, which can distort the padding and straps.
