HEAD Pro X XL Padel Bag (Pro X Racquet Bag XL)

£104.99

The HEAD Pro X XL padel bag is HEAD's biggest Pro X racquet bag: 80 × 35 × 40 cm, three racket compartments, one of them lined with CCT+ climate control, and a vented compartment at the end for shoes. HEAD builds it as a tennis bag rated for up to 12 tennis racquets, which makes it the bag for players who carry both sports in one go.

For padel alone it's more bag than most people need. For a tennis-and-padel household, or a coach, it's one bag instead of two.

Three compartments and a shoe end

Tennis Warehouse Europe lays it out like this. One compartment is lined with HEAD's CCT+ material and holds up to four racquets, protecting rackets and strings from heat and cold. The middle compartment opens on a U-shaped zip and is the big one. A third compartment at the end holds four more. Below them, a vented compartment takes shoes or wet kit, and there are two side pockets and a small mesh pocket for keys and grips.

Padded backpack straps fix to the base of the bag, with extra padding where it sits on your back, and there are grab handles on the end and the middle. HEAD's figure is up to 12 tennis racquets. The per-compartment counts on the retailer page add up to 13, so treat 12 as the honest maximum.

Using a tennis bag for padel

Padel rackets are short. The FIP caps a racket at 45.5 cm including the handle, and this bag is 80 cm long, so every legal padel racket slides in with length to spare. HEAD doesn't publish a padel racket count for it, and we won't invent one, but if a compartment takes four tennis racquets it isn't going to struggle with padel rackets.

The spare length is the catch. A padel racket rattles around in a compartment built for a longer frame, so pack it in a cover from our padel racket covers range, or wedge it with a towel. A bag cut for padel, such as HEAD's 45-litre Pro X Padel Bag L, holds padel rackets more snugly.

Not for you if

You only play padel and carry one or two rackets, you take the bus or cycle, or you want something that fits a small car boot. A padel-sized bag or a backpack will be less of a lump.

Who it suits

Coaches carrying spares for a session, families with tennis and padel players in the same car, and club players who switch sports in a week. It also pairs naturally with HEAD's heavier Pro X-era rackets such as the Head Speed Pro and the Speed Pro X, when you want spares, shoes and kit in one place and the rackets kept apart from the shoes.

Packing it

Padel rackets in covers in the CCT+ compartment, tennis racquets in the middle, shoes in the vented end. Put balls from padel balls and a spare grip from padel grips in the side pockets, and court shoes from padel shoes in the end. Every bag we stock is on padel bags.

HEAD Pro X XL Padel Bag (Pro X Racquet Bag XL): questions people ask

Is the HEAD Pro X XL a padel bag or a tennis bag?

HEAD sells it as a tennis racquet bag, rated for up to 12 tennis racquets. Padel rackets are shorter, so it carries them easily, which makes it a good bag for players of both sports.

Is the HEAD Pro X XL too big for padel?

For one or two padel rackets, yes. It suits coaches, families and players who carry tennis and padel kit together. A padel-only player is better with a smaller padel bag.

HEAD Pro X XL or Pro X Padel Bag L: which should I buy?

The XL if you carry tennis racquets as well as padel rackets. The Pro X Padel Bag L if you only play padel: it is about 45 litres and cut for padel rackets.

How do I stop padel rackets moving about in the Pro X XL?

Put each one in a cover and pack a towel around them. The compartments are built for longer tennis frames, so a padel racket has room to slide.

What are the dimensions of the HEAD Pro X XL?

80 × 35 × 40 cm, with three racket compartments and a vented shoe compartment.
