Head Speed Pro X Padel Racket 2023
£96.35
The Head Speed Pro X padel racket is the heaviest racket in HEAD's 2023 Speed range: 375 g, a 12K carbon face over Power Foam and a 272 mm balance, built for advanced players who want a teardrop's control with the weight to finish points.
It's three seasons old, and it still scores better than the 2025 Speed Pro on Padelful for both control and power. If you can handle the weight, that makes it one of the stronger buys in HEAD's back catalogue.

Which level is the Head Speed Pro X 2023 Padel Racket for?
By Tushan Das, Owner, Padel Depot · Updated
Why 375 grams changes everything
Most of HEAD's Speed range sits at 270 mm and somewhere between 345 and 370 g. The Pro X adds 5 g to the heaviest of them and nudges the balance to 272 mm. That small step is where the racket's character comes from. A heavy, slightly head-weighted teardrop pushes through the ball on a volley and holds its line when an opponent hits hard at you, which is why Padelful rates its control 9.6 and its power 9.1.
The 12K carbon face finishes the job. Carbon this dense is stiff and direct, so the ball leaves the face quickly when you swing and goes where you point it. Padelful calls the feel medium-hard and the weight evenly distributed, and suggests it is built for advanced and tournament players.

Speed Pro X 2023 against the 2025 Speed Pro
The obvious comparison is the Speed Pro 2025: 370 g, 270 mm, with a woven carbon and fibreglass face. On Padelful's scores the older Pro X is ahead on control (9.6 against 8.6), power (9.1 against 8.4) and sweet spot, while the 2025 is livelier off the face (9.0 rebound against 8.3) and easier to move (8.7 against 8.2). The hybrid face is the difference: fibreglass in the weave gives the newer racket more give and more rebound, and the all-carbon Pro X gives more precision.
Neither is wrong. If you want the racket to do more of the work on defence, the 2025 is the friendlier frame. If you already generate your own pace and want it placed exactly, the Pro X is the sharper tool.
| If you want | Choose | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Maximum control and punch in a teardrop | Speed Pro X 2023 | 375 g, 12K carbon, Padelful control 9.6 |
| A livelier, more forgiving Speed | Speed Pro 2025 | 370 g, hybrid woven, rebound 9.0 |
| A lighter Speed from the same year | Speed Motion 2023 | 360 g, quicker at the net |
| The same weight in a diamond | Coello Pro 2026 | 370 g, Arturo Coello's tour racket |

Who should not buy a Speed Pro X
Anyone still building their technique. A 375 g carbon racket magnifies late contact and loads the forearm and shoulder, and Padelful is clear that it isn't for beginners. Club players who want the Speed feel with less weight will be happier with the Speed Motion 2025 or the very light Speed One. Not sure you're ready for an advanced frame? The advanced padel rackets page explains what that really means.
Not for you if
You are a beginner or improver, you have a sore elbow or shoulder, or you want a light racket that is quick at the net. The weight that makes this racket good also makes it demanding.
Set it up for a heavy racket
On a heavy frame a secure handle matters even more; a tacky overgrip such as the HEAD Prime Tour three-pack helps, and padel grips has thicker options if you want to build the handle up. Tape the frame with HEAD protection tape before the first match, since a three-season-old racket deserves to keep its paint.
For balls, the Head Pro S+ dozen is HEAD's firmer ball for cold UK courts; padel balls compares the others. Carry it in a Head Pro X XL bag or anything from padel bags, and see padel shoes for footwear. Other last-season frames are on cheap padel rackets and padel racket sale, the full range on padel rackets, and the guide to choosing a padel racket explains weight and balance.
