Head Speed One Padel Racket 2025

£129.97

The Head Speed One padel racket is the lightest, quickest carbon racket in Head's Speed range: a 345 g teardrop with a single-hole 2D carbon face, a 270 mm balance and Power Foam, for intermediate and advanced players who play fast at the net. Head calls it the lightest and strongest racket in the Speed series.

Light makes it fast. It doesn't make it easy, and the sweet spot is the reason why.

What makes the Head Speed One different: one hole

Most padel rackets have a face full of holes. The Speed One has, in Head's words, just one hole in the hitting surface, and that single hole is where the name comes from. A solid face changes how the ball comes off: Head pairs it with 2D carbon, a woven carbon that it says adds stiffness and strength for control and power, over Power Foam built for smashes and bandejas.

Around that, Head adds Graphene Inside in the frame for stability, a DAMP Plus insert in the yoke to filter vibration before it reaches your hand, Auxetic 2.0 for feedback, and a replaceable Anti-Shock Skin on the rim. The result weighs 345 g, lighter than the Speed Motion, but carries its balance at 270 mm like the heavier Speed Pro.

Head Speed One review: a perfect 10 for handling

Padelful gives the Speed One a 10 for manoeuvrability, the top of its scale, with 9.1 for control and 8.7 for power, an overall 8.7. That combination is rare: a racket light enough to whip round at the net that still has real punch, because the weight it has sits up the frame.

The weak numbers are rebound, 7.6, and sweet spot, 7.9. Padelful's reviewer puts it plainly: the sweet spot requires some adjustment. A medium-hard carbon face with one hole doesn't give much back on mishits, so off-centre volleys die and late swings are punished. This is a racket for clean ball-strikers.

Speed One or Extreme One? Head's two single-hole rackets

Head uses the One name in two families. The Extreme One is a 350 g diamond on 12K carbon with a 272 mm balance, built for attacking players who finish points overhead. The Speed One is a teardrop, 5 g lighter, with its sweet spot lower and more central. If you want speed and a bit more margin, the Speed One; if you want maximum smash, the Extreme One.

Inside the Speed family the comparison is with the Speed Pro, 370 g at the same 270 mm on a Hybrid Woven face. The Pro is heavier and more stable against hard balls; the One is faster and asks more of your timing. The Speed Motion sits between them on carbon and fibreglass, and the Speed One X is Head's other One variant in the range.

Who the Speed One suits, and who it does not

It suits net players with quick hands and a clean swing: the right-side player who lives on volleys, or the lighter attacker who finds 370 g rackets slow by the second set. Head labels it intermediate to advanced, and the advanced half is the honest one. The advanced padel rackets page explains what that level looks like.

Not for you if

You still mishit a fair number of balls, you want a soft and forgiving feel, or you need a big sweet spot. The Speed One's 7.9 sweet spot and medium-hard face reward precision. A lighter teardrop with more give, from the teardrop padel rackets range, or Head's Radical Motion for control, may suit you better.

Setting up the Speed One

A light racket rewards a secure, tacky handle, so fit a fresh overgrip such as the Head Prime Tour perforated three-pack; the padel grips page covers the options. Keep the Anti-Shock Skin on and renew it when it wears, or add tape from the racket protector range.

Balls from the padel balls range, a bag from padel bags, and shoes from padel shoes that keep up with quick net exchanges finish the kit. Every racket is under padel rackets, carbon padel rackets explains the faces, and our guide to choosing a padel racket covers weight and balance.

Head Speed One Padel Racket 2025: questions people ask

Is the Head Speed One the same as the Extreme One?

No. Both have a single hole in the face, but the Speed One is a 345 g teardrop on 2D carbon at 270 mm, and the Extreme One is a 350 g diamond on 12K carbon at 272 mm. The Speed One is the quicker, more all-round racket; the Extreme One is built for the smash.

What level is the Head Speed One padel racket for?

Intermediate to advanced by Head's label, and best for advanced players with a clean swing. Its sweet spot rewards precise contact, so players who still mishit often will find it unforgiving.

Head Speed One or Speed Pro?

The Speed Pro is 370 g on a Hybrid Woven face, more stable against heavy balls. The Speed One is 345 g on 2D carbon with a single hole, faster in the hand. Both share a 270 mm balance and Power Foam.

How do I look after a Head Speed One?

Keep the replaceable Anti-Shock Skin in place and renew it when it wears, store the racket in a cover out of heat, and wipe the face after damp sessions. Change the overgrip as soon as it gets slippery; a light racket twists more easily in a wet hand.

How heavy is the Head Speed One 2025?

Head lists 345 g with a 10 g tolerance either way, a 270 mm balance and a 38 mm profile.

Why does the Head Speed One have only one hole?

Head names the racket after that single hole in the hitting surface. It pairs the solid face with a 2D carbon layer, which Head says adds stiffness for control and power. In practice it gives a firm, direct response with a smaller sweet spot than a conventionally drilled face.
