K-Swiss Ultrashot 4 Clay Mens Padel Shoes

7.5 · £118.99

The K-Swiss Ultrashot 4 Clay mens padel shoes are a clay-court tennis shoe that some padel retailers sell for padel, for players who want a stable, full-herringbone shoe and do not mind a heavy one. Tennis Warehouse Europe lists Aosta 7.0 rubber in a multi-directional herringbone, Dragguard 7.0 in the high-wear areas, Surge 7.0 cushioning, a 360 Plantar Support Chassis and 459 g in a US 10.5.

K-Swiss makes it for clay, and we found no K-Swiss claim that it is a padel shoe. Retailers such as Padel Life and Decathlon sell it for padel because a clay herringbone grips sand-dressed turf, which is a fair reason, so this page says what it is and where it fits.

A clay shoe on a padel court

The Ultrashot 4 is the fourth edition of K-Swiss's clay and all-court tennis shoe. Tennis Warehouse Europe says it adds stability, plusher cushioning and better ventilation over earlier versions, with a new 360-degree plantar support chassis for a stable feel. Racket Central lists its sports as tennis and pickleball, and it does not mention padel.

Padel Life and a Decathlon listing, on the other hand, sell it as a shoe for clay and padel courts. The logic is sound: a full herringbone is the tread padel players look for on sand, and the high-wear Dragguard rubber covers the toe and medial areas where a padel shoe wears quickest. A Merchant of Tennis note warns that a clay-optimised tread can wear faster on hard courts, which matters if your local courts are indoors with little sand.

Weight, fit and the version question

Tennis Warehouse Europe lists 459 g at US 10.5, and describes a true-to-size length, a generous medium width, a medium arch and a slight break-in. Padel Life gives 417 g with no size. K-Swiss's own padel shoe, the men's K-Frame, is listed at 408 g in the same US 10.5, so the Ultrashot 4 is the heavier shoe by around 50 g on the best comparison we have.

Sellers also differ on parts. Racket Central lists a CMEVA midsole and a textile upper, and Tennis Warehouse Europe lists Surge 7.0 cushioning and DuraMesh with DuraPrint. They may be describing different colourways or years, and we cannot tell which one our listing is.

Ultrashot 4 Clay or a K-Swiss padel shoe?

If you play on sandy outdoor courts, the herringbone and the stability make the Ultrashot 4 Clay a reasonable fit. If you want a lighter, padel-labelled shoe, the Express Light 3 is the one (Rublev's Speed Rublo Clay is another tennis clay shoe in the range), and the K-Frame is K-Swiss's performance padel shoe. The Court Express 2 Clay is the cheaper clay-series option, and the Ultrashot Light is a lighter Ultrashot.

Who should skip the Ultrashot 4 Clay

Players who want the lightest shoe, or who play mostly indoors on fast courts where a clay tread is wasted. It is made for tennis, not padel, and a padel-specific shoe will usually be lighter at the same level.

Not for you if

You want a shoe made for padel or the lightest option. This is a clay tennis shoe at about 459 g in US 10.5. The Express Light 3 is the padel-labelled K-Swiss, and our padel shoes page explains how to choose by sole.

Kit to go with it

A stable shoe pairs with a racket to match. Our advanced padel rackets page lists them, and the full padel racket range is on one page. Balls are on the padel balls page and overgrips on the padel grips page.

A bag with a shoe pocket keeps sand off your kit, such as the Babolat RH Pro, and the padel bag page lists others. Our guide to choosing a padel racket is the place to start if the racket is still to buy.

K-Swiss Ultrashot 4 Clay Mens Padel Shoes: questions people ask

Is the K-Swiss Ultrashot 4 Clay a padel shoe?

K-Swiss makes it as a clay-court tennis shoe. Some padel retailers sell it for padel because of its herringbone sole, but we found no K-Swiss claim that it is a padel shoe.

What is the difference between the Ultrashot 4 Clay and the K-Frame Padel?

The K-Frame is a padel shoe with a TPU forefoot frame at about 408 g in US 10.5. The Ultrashot 4 Clay is a clay tennis shoe with a plantar chassis and a full herringbone at 459 g in the same size.

How heavy is the K-Swiss Ultrashot 4 Clay?

Tennis Warehouse Europe lists 459 g at US 10.5. Padel Life gives 417 g without a size.

Does the K-Swiss Ultrashot 4 Clay fit true to size?

Tennis Warehouse Europe describes true-to-size length, a generous medium width and a medium arch, with a slight break-in.

Will a clay shoe wear out on a padel court?

A clay tread can wear faster on hard surfaces, according to one seller. On a sand-dressed padel court it should grip well, and Dragguard rubber covers the high-wear zones.

Is the Ultrashot 4 Clay the same as the Ultrashot 3 All Court?

No. The Ultrashot 3 All Court is an earlier all-court shoe with its own listing in our range. We have not compared the two sheets.
