Set Padel Amarok Padel Racket 2025

£69.95

The Set Padel Amarok padel racket is SET's control racket for 2025: a round head, an ultra soft EVA core, a three-layer fibreglass face and a weight of about 360 g, finished with a rough gloss for spin. SET calls it control at its finest, and aims it at precise, tactical players.

It's a soft, controlled racket for someone who plays with placement and patience. SET rates its own power at 9 and its control at 10 and says it suits intermediate and advanced players, while the retailers we checked say medium-high, so this isn't a first racket.

What SET and the shops say

SET's own page lists a round shape, a weight of 360 g (355 to 365 g in the description), an ultra soft EVA core, a three-layer fibreglass face, a rough gloss finish for spin and an anti-vibration system around the wrist that it markets as elbow-friendly. It says the racket is built from 100% carbon, without listing the frame separately, and gives the level as intermediate to advanced.

Padel Shack and Stringers World share a feed, so they count as one source. They list a round racket at 350 to 370 g, with an even balance, an EVA core, a trilayer fibreglass face and a 38 mm frame, for medium-high level players. SET doesn't state a balance, so we'd call it even, which fits a round racket.

How it should play

We found no independent scores for the Amarok, so this is a description from the specs and from SET's own wording. A round head puts the sweet spot in the middle of the face, and an ultra soft core makes the ball leave the face slowly and with extra dwell. That's a recipe for control, depth and defence, and for a lower pace than a hard-cored racket.

The face is fibreglass, which is softer than carbon, and the sources disagree about whether the frame is carbon. Whichever it is, expect a comfortable racket that does the job at the baseline and takes the sting out of heavy balls, and expect to supply most of your own power.

Not for you if

You want free power or a springy ball exit. An ultra soft core and a fibreglass face are built for control, and a heavy hitter will find the Amarok slow. It's also a mid-to-high level racket, so a first-timer is better with a simpler beginner racket.

Who it suits

Tactical, patient players who win points with placement, club players with sore elbows who want a damped, comfortable racket, and anyone who likes a soft touch at the net. It belongs among the control padel racket options and beside the other round rackets on our cheap padel racket page. For the wider range, start at padel racket.

Looking after it

A racket protector takes the knocks a fibreglass face doesn't like, and a spare overgrip from padel grips keeps the handle tacky. Pair it with padel balls in good condition, since a soft core likes a lively ball, and carry it in a padel bag or the matching Set Padel Amarok backpack. Court shoes from padel shoes are worth buying first.
