Set Padel Black Wolf Padel Racket 2025

£150

The Set Padel Black Wolf padel racket is SET's hard-hitting racket for 2025: an oversize mixed-shape head, a hard EVA core, a 100% 3K carbon build and a weight of about 360 g, aimed at advanced and professional players who attack. SET rates its own power at 100% and its control at 80%.

Shops can't agree on what to call the shape, and they split on the balance and the carbon grade. What they agree on is the core and the intent: this is a hard, firm racket for people who finish points.

Three sources, three labels

SET's own page calls it an oversize mixed shape at 355 to 365 g with a hard EVA core and a 100% 3K carbon construction, for advanced and professional players. Padel Shack, whose listing Stringers World repeats, calls it a hybrid at 350 to 370 g with an even balance, a 38 mm frame, a 100% carbon frame and an EVA Hard core. RacketGuide calls it an oversized teardrop at 360 to 375 g with a high balance, a hard 12K carbon surface and a carbon frame.

The core and the weight agree to within a few grams. The shape name, the balance and the carbon grade don't, and 3K against 12K is the sort of difference that sits in how a number is quoted. We'd read it as an oversized hybrid with a balance between even and high, which is where most hybrids sit.

How it should play

We found no independent scores, so this is read from the specs and SET's own wording. A hard EVA core and a hard carbon surface store little energy at low speed and return a lot at high speed, which is why such rackets feel dead on a soft touch and lively on a full swing. SET's own rating of 100% power and 80% control agrees with that.

An oversize head helps a little with the sweet spot, and a balance leaning to the head helps the smash. If you swing fast and hit the middle of the face most of the time, you get power and a stable response. If you don't, you get a harsh racket.

Not for you if

You want comfort, a soft touch or help with off-centre hits. A hard core and a hard 3K carbon build are firm on the arm, and SET itself puts it at advanced to professional level, so a developing player will find it unforgiving.

Who it suits

Advanced club players who attack from the net and the back, finish with the smash and want a firm racket that adds pace. It belongs among the advanced padel rackets and on our teardrop and hybrid rackets page, with the other carbon padel rackets. For other brands, start at padel racket.

Looking after it

A racket protector matters on a hard carbon frame, and a spare overgrip from padel grips keeps the handle tacky. Fresh padel balls, proper padel shoes and a padel bag with a racket compartment complete the kit, and the matching Black Wolf bag is an option.
