Siux Spyder Lite Ctrl 3 Hard Padel Racket

£96.35

The Siux Spyder Lite Ctrl 3 Hard is a round control racket for advanced players who want to dominate a rally with placement: a low-balance round frame with a 12K carbon face, a hard EVA core and a weight reported at 355 to 375 g. It is the 2024 edition, and the Hard in the name is the firmer of the Spyder Lite versions.

Padelful scores its control a flat 10 and its sweet spot 9.1, with manoeuvrability at 8.7. Power (7.8) and rebound (7.2) are the price, which is exactly what a control racket should charge.

Spanish shops list it as the Spider Lite Control 3 Hard, and the Spyder Lite 3 is a different racket. Check the Ctrl and the Hard before you buy.

A round racket built around control

The headline is the 10 for control, and Padelful's reviewer describes pinpoint accuracy. Add a generous, forgiving sweet spot and an agile response at the net, and you have a round racket that makes the right shot easy to repeat. Siux's Dual Pro Grip adds texture to the handle to reduce slippage.

Power is deliberately secondary. The racket favours control over raw force, so the smash will not carry itself and rebound is low at 7.2. This is a racket for players who win points by moving the ball around the court and making the opposition hit one more shot.

How hard is Hard?

Sources describe the feel differently. Padelful calls it medium-hard and intuitive; Padel Nuestro lists a hard core and a very hard feel, and a glossy black and green finish with Shockout dampeners to reduce vibration. The reconciling reading is a firm racket, firmer than a typical intermediate frame, with a hard EVA core under a stiff 12K face.

Padel Nuestro lists the racket as low balance and for advanced and competition players, and gives no weight; Padelful's 355 to 375 g is the figure we use. We do not claim a frame description, because one listing's wording about the frame does not match the other sources.

Spyder Lite or Trilogy?

The Trilogy is Siux's current round control line, and the two are close cousins. The Trilogy Pro has a 24K face and a medium-hard core, and Padelful scores it 9.7 for control and 9.0 for sweet spot. The Spyder Lite Ctrl 3 Hard edges it on paper for control (10) and sweet spot (9.1) and is a touch harder. Last season's Trilogy Pro 5 sits between them in age.

If you can find a Spyder at a sensible price, you are buying one of the most accurate round rackets Siux has made. If you want the current colours and the newer face, buy the Trilogy.

Who should skip the Spyder Lite Ctrl 3 Hard

Anyone who wants free power or a soft feel. A hard core, a stiff 12K face and a power score of 7.8 give you little help, and the firm feel is tiring for sensitive arms. If you are still developing, the best padel racket for intermediate players page has softer, friendlier rackets, and attackers should look at the diamond padel rackets page.

Not for you if

You have a sore elbow or want comfort. Sources describe a firm to very hard feel on a hard EVA core. Our control padel rackets page has softer round options.

Setting up a Spyder Lite Ctrl 3

A hard racket needs a fresh, cushioned grip. A replacement grip or a tacky overgrip such as the Head Pro overgrip is the usual fix, and our padel grips page explains the difference. Frame tape from the racket protector range is worth fitting before the first match.

Fresh balls help a racket with low rebound, so a tube of Bullpadel Next balls is a sensible companion, and the padel balls page explains how fast pressure fades. The padel bags page has bags with a thermal pocket, and court shoes are on our padel shoes page.

To compare with other brands, the advanced padel rackets list and the full padel racket range are the places to look, the Siux padel rackets page covers the whole line, and our guide to choosing a padel racket explains shape and balance.
