ASICS Gel-Challenger 15 Padel Men's Shoes

8 · £86.47

The ASICS Gel-Challenger 15 Padel is the lighter, narrower middle of the ASICS padel range: a 389 g shoe with a proper padel tread and GEL cushioning for club players on court two or three times a week. This is the 2026 men's version, in UK sizes 8 to 12.5.

It does most of what the heavier Gel-Resolution X does for a good deal less shoe. The one thing to check before you order is the width, because it is built narrow.

ASICS Gel-Challenger 15 Padel vs Gel-Resolution X

This is the comparison most buyers are really making, so here it is in numbers. Tennis Warehouse Europe weighs the Challenger at 389 g for a US 10.5; Tennis Warehouse puts the Gel-Resolution X Padel at 16.1 oz, about 456 g, in the same size. That's roughly 67 g per shoe, which you notice by the third set.

The Resolution spends that weight on structure: a Dynawall frame into the heel, AHAR Plus rubber, a PGUARD toe and a softer FlyteFoam Blast+ midsole. The Challenger keeps it simpler, with Wingwall for lateral stability, GEL underfoot and standard AHAR rubber in the same modified herringbone pattern. Fit differs too. The Challenger is true to size and narrow; the Resolution runs long and medium-width.

What the Gel-Challenger 15 Padel is like to play in

With less foam and structure than the Resolution, it sits closer to the court. GEL underfoot takes the sting out of landings, and Wingwall, which ASICS adds to the midsole for lateral stability, holds the foot when you push off sideways. Tennis Warehouse Europe sums it up as support and comfort at a good price, and that's a fair description of the brief.

The sole is the part that matters most on British courts. AHAR rubber in a modified herringbone gives zigzag channels that clear the sand from sand-filled turf, with the pattern broken up enough to let you twist. It's the same idea as the more expensive ASICS shoes, which is the Challenger's main selling point.

Gel-Challenger 15 Padel sizing: true length, narrow width

Length is straightforward: Tennis Warehouse Europe rates it true to size, and its reference pair is a US 10.5, UK 9.5 or 28.25 cm foot. Order your normal ASICS size. On the same charts a 28 cm foot is a UK 9 in ASICS but a UK 10 in Bullpadel, so if you are coming from another brand, measure in centimetres first. The men's padel shoes page has more on cross-brand sizing.

Width is the catch. ASICS builds the Challenger on a narrow last, and the arch is medium. If your feet are slim it will feel locked in from the first session, with only a slight break-in. If they are broad across the forefoot, it may pinch on the lateral push-off, and no amount of breaking in fixes that.

Where the Challenger sits in ASICS's padel range

ASICS's current padel line runs in three steps. The Gel-Dedicate 9 and the Game FF are the entry shoes, the Gel-Challenger 15 is the middle, and the Gel-Resolution X and the Sonicsmash FF, new in December 2025, are the premium pair. There's also a women's Gel-Challenger 15 Padel on a women's last, with the same padel tread.

Who should pick something else

Two kinds of player. Those with wide feet, for the reason above. And heavy movers who plant hard on every point and wear through toes, who will be better served by the Resolution's extra structure and PGUARD, or by the cushioned adidas Crazyquick Boost.

Not for you if

You need a UK 7.5 or smaller: we currently list the men's Challenger from UK 8, so look at the women's version or the padel shoes range for smaller sizes. And if you play mostly on smooth indoor courts with very little sand, an omni-stud sole may suit you better.

Keeping them going, and the rest of your kit

Clear the sand from the tread after each session and let them dry at room temperature, never on a radiator. When the herringbone channels wear smooth, retire them for padel; that's when they start to slip. A cushioned Karakal Performance Insole is a simple swap if you want more arch support than the stock footbed.

If you are kitting out a new player, the beginner padel rackets page is the place to start, then a tube from padel balls, a fresh overgrip from padel grips and a bag with a shoe compartment from the padel bag range. Every racket we stock is under padel rackets, and the guide to choosing a padel racket explains weight and balance.

ASICS Gel-Challenger 15 Padel Men's Shoes: questions people ask

Is the ASICS Gel-Challenger 15 Padel the same as the tennis Gel-Challenger 15?

No. The Padel version has a modified herringbone AHAR outsole made for sand-filled turf. The tennis versions use hard-court or clay patterns. For padel, buy the Padel version.

Does the ASICS Gel-Challenger 15 Padel run narrow?

Yes. Tennis Warehouse Europe rates the width as narrow and the arch as medium, while the length is true to size. If your feet are wide across the forefoot, the medium-width Gel-Resolution X Padel is the safer ASICS choice.

Gel-Challenger 15 or Gel-Resolution X: which is better for padel?

The Challenger is lighter at 389 g against about 456 g and suits club players who want support without bulk. The Resolution X has more structure, AHAR Plus rubber and a toe guard, and suits heavier movers. Fit differs as well: narrow and true against medium and long.

How long do ASICS Gel-Challenger 15 Padel shoes last?

ASICS publishes no wear figure. Playing two or three times a week, the useful sign is the tread: once the herringbone channels are smooth, they no longer clear sand and grip drops off. Dry them away from heat to keep the GEL and midsole in shape.

How much does the ASICS Gel-Challenger 15 Padel weigh?

389 g per shoe at US 10.5, which is a UK 9.5, according to Tennis Warehouse Europe. Smaller sizes weigh a little less and larger sizes a little more.

Is there a women's ASICS Gel-Challenger 15 Padel?

Yes. ASICS makes it on a women's last with the same padel tread and GEL cushioning, and we list it separately in women's UK sizes.
