ASICS Gel-Resolution X Padel Men's Shoes

6 · £113.95

The ASICS Gel-Resolution X Padel is the brand's stability shoe for padel: a solid, supportive, hard-wearing trainer for players who plant and push off hard, especially from the back of the court. This is the men's version, ASICS style 1041A492, in green and orange.

It is the tenth Gel-Resolution, and ASICS gave it a softer ride than the Resolutions before it. It is also not light, and it runs long, so read the sizing section before you pick a number.

What the ASICS Gel-Resolution X Padel is built to do

Padel footwork is short and violent: a split step, two quick shuffles, a lunge to the glass and a push back to the middle. The Resolution's answer is structure. DYNAWALL, a firm wall in the midsole that ASICS re-engineered for this generation, runs along the outside of the foot and into the heel to stop the shoe rolling when you plant, and DYNALACING ties the upper down over the midfoot.

Cushioning sits underneath that frame. FlyteFoam Blast+ and ECO foam make up the midsole, with GEL in the forefoot, and Tennis Warehouse's sheet calls the ride more plush than earlier Resolutions. On the inner toe there is PGUARD, a drag guard for players whose back foot scrapes along the turf on low volleys.

What you get is a shoe that feels planted rather than nimble. That's the whole point of it.

Padel, Clay or Hard Court: which Gel-Resolution X?

ASICS sells the Gel-Resolution X in several versions, and only the Padel one is designed for a padel court. It uses a modified herringbone tread in full-length AHAR Plus rubber: zigzag channels that clear sand from under the foot, with the tread broken up so you can still twist and slide a little. The Clay version, which we also stock as the Gel-Resolution X Clay Court, is a tennis shoe with a full herringbone. The Hard Court version has a flatter pattern meant for acrylic tennis courts.

UK courts are mostly sand-filled artificial grass, and much of the year they are damp. In our view a herringbone-type tread grips that surface better than the shallow omni studs on many padel shoes, which are designed to slide and are happiest indoors on dry courts. The Padel version is the safe choice; the Clay one works too if you play mainly on sandy outdoor courts and like a firmer bite.

ASICS Gel-Resolution X Padel sizing and fit

Measure your foot in centimetres first. On Tennis Warehouse Europe's charts a 28 cm foot is a UK 9 in ASICS, the same as Head, but a UK 10 in Bullpadel, so a number that fits in one brand can be a full size out in another. Our men's padel shoes page has the wider comparison.

Then allow for this particular shoe. ASICS says the Gel-Resolution X fits more spaciously than earlier Resolutions, and Tennis Warehouse rates it long, suggesting half a size down if you are between sizes. Width and arch are both medium. Expect a short break-in: the heel counter and Dynawall feel stiff for the first couple of sessions and then settle.

Gel-Resolution X vs Gel-Resolution 9, Gel-Challenger 15 and Game FF

Coming from the Gel-Resolution 9? The X keeps the idea and softens the ride: a redesigned Dynawall, a more plush midsole and a raised, padded inner collar. It also fits roomier, which is the one thing Resolution 9 owners should know before they order the same size.

If the Resolution feels like too much shoe, ASICS has lighter options. The Gel-Challenger 15 and the Game FF are narrower in the forefoot and less structured, and the Gel-Dedicate 9 is the entry shoe for once-a-week players. The Sonicsmash FF, new for December 2025 with Coki Nieto, is ASICS's newest padel shoe.

Who should skip it

Light, quick players who live at the net often prefer a lower, lighter shoe that lets them feel the court, and they will find the Resolution a bit like playing in walking boots for the first fortnight. Wide feet are another reason: we have not found a 2E version of any padel shoe, this one included. If you want a cushioned alternative outside ASICS, the adidas Crazyquick Boost is the usual comparison.

Not for you if

You play once a fortnight and want a shoe that just works: the Gel-Dedicate 9 or Game FF covers that for a lot less shoe. And if your club plays on a smooth indoor court with almost no sand, a shoe with omni studs from the wider padel shoes range may slide more comfortably.

Looking after them, and what to pair them with

Knock the sand out after every session and let them dry at room temperature, never on a radiator, which hardens the foam and lifts the glue. A bag with a separate shoe compartment keeps the sand off your racket, and the padel bag page shows which ones have it. If you want more arch support than the factory footbed gives, a Karakal Performance Insole swaps straight in.

ASICS Gel-Resolution X Padel Men's Shoes: questions people ask

Is the ASICS Gel-Resolution X Padel the same as the Gel-Resolution X Clay?

No. The Padel version has a modified herringbone tread made for padel turf. The Clay version is a tennis shoe with a full herringbone, and the Hard Court version has a flatter tread for acrylic courts. For padel, buy the Padel version unless you know you want a firmer bite on sandy outdoor courts.

Should I size down in the ASICS Gel-Resolution X Padel?

If you are between sizes, yes. ASICS says it fits more spaciously than earlier Resolutions and Tennis Warehouse rates it long, so half a size down is the usual advice. Measure in centimetres: a 28 cm foot is a UK 9 in ASICS.

What is the difference between the Gel-Resolution X and the Gel-Resolution 9?

The X is the tenth generation. It has a redesigned Dynawall, a softer, more plush midsole and a raised inner collar, and it fits roomier. The sole idea and the overall feel of a supportive stability shoe carry over.

Is the Gel-Resolution X Padel good for beginners?

It is good for any player who moves heavily or wants plenty of support, beginners included, but it is a lot of shoe for someone playing once a fortnight. The Gel-Dedicate 9 or Game FF are easier starting points.

How heavy is the ASICS Gel-Resolution X Padel?

Tennis Warehouse lists 16.1 oz for a US 10.5, about 456 g per shoe. That's at the heavy end for padel shoes, which is the cost of the Dynawall and the full-length rubber.

How long do ASICS Gel-Resolution X Padel shoes last?

ASICS publishes no wear guarantee, but AHAR Plus is the hard-wearing rubber ASICS is known for and the PGUARD protects the toe that drags most. Dry them away from heat and clear the sand after each session, and retire them when the tread channels wear smooth, because that is when they start to slip.

Is there a women's ASICS Gel-Resolution X Padel?

Yes. ASICS makes it on a women's last with the same sole and support system. We list it separately as the women's Gel-Resolution X Padel.
