Babolat Viper Soft Juan Lebron 3.1 Padel Racket

£260

The Babolat Viper Soft Juan Lebron 3.1 is the softer sibling of Juan Lebron's signature Viper: a 365 g head-heavy diamond with a Soft Carbon face, a black EVA core and a 38 mm carbon frame. Babolat describes it as ideal for competitive players with an offensive style, with a focus on power and comfort, and it suits attackers who find the standard Viper too harsh.

It is new, and we found no independent test of the 3.1. Where this page quotes scores, they belong to the 3.0 Soft that it follows, and we label them that way.

Babolat's own page files it in the Juan Lebron collection 2026, while Spanish shops list it as 2027, so the year is a naming difference rather than two rackets.

What Babolat publishes about the Viper Soft 3.1

Babolat's UK page lists a diamond head, a head-heavy balance, 365 g give or take 10, a 38 mm profile, a Soft Carbon surface, a carbon frame and a black EVA core, with Syntec Pro as the recommended grip. The Dynamic Stability System, a central reinforced bar, and raised 3D Spin patterns are listed as the main technologies. The colours are light green and violet purple, and the typology is Technical Striker.

A retailer sums the character up as sitting between the explosive Viper and the more comfortable Veron. That is retail positioning, but it fits the specification: the soft face and black EVA core take some of the Viper's edge off.

What the 3.0 Soft tells us

The only test we found is Padelful's page for the 3.0 Soft Juan Lebron, the 2026 racket the 3.1 follows. It scores overall 8.6, with power 9.6, control 8.5, rebound 8.7, manoeuvrability 7.6 and sweet spot 8.7, and rates the feel medium. Its reviewer liked the free ball exit, stable volleys and repeatable bandeja power, and disliked the head-heavy, demanding setup and the lack of arm friendliness.

We do not know how much the 3.1 changes, and we are not going to guess. Treat these scores as a guide to the family character, not as measurements of the new racket.

Viper Soft 3.1 or the standard Viper Juan Lebron 3.1?

The Viper Juan Lebron 3.1 has a 3K carbon face and a hard EVA core at 370 g. The Soft gives up a little weight and some of that firmness for a gentler contact. On the 3.0 scores, the Soft traded a few tenths of power and nearly a point of control for more rebound and a medium rather than hard feel.

If you want the Lebron look with less arm punishment, the Soft is the one. The lighter, more accessible Veron Juan Lebron 3.1 is the other soft-feeling Lebron racket. The Technical Viper Soft 3.0 is the 2026 racket with the same soft recipe, and the Viper Juan Lebron 3.0 is the standard 2026 racket.

Who should skip the Viper Soft 3.1

Anyone who wants an easy-going racket. Even soft, a head-heavy diamond punishes late hands and is hard on the arm, and untested rackets are a risk if you cannot demo first. The best padel racket for intermediate players page lists friendlier frames, and the control padel rackets page covers round rackets.

Not for you if

You want comfort first, or need evidence before buying. The 3.1 has no independent test, and its predecessor was described as demanding and not arm-friendly. The diamond padel racket page lists tested alternatives.

Setting up a Viper Soft 3.1

Babolat recommends Syntec Pro. An overgrip such as the Babolat VS overgrip adds tack, and our padel grips page explains when to replace instead. Fit frame tape from the racket protector range before the first match.

Fresh balls matter for a racket that offers free power, so a box of Babolat Ace balls is a natural partner, and the padel balls page explains how quickly pressure fades. The padel bags and padel shoes pages complete the kit, and the full padel racket range, the advanced padel rackets list and our guide to choosing a padel racket put it in context.
