Joma Hyper Pro SFT Padel Racket

£163.99

The Joma Hyper Pro SFT padel racket is the more forgiving of Joma's two Hyper Pro diamonds: a high-balance, 12K carbon racket weighing 350 to 360 g, with a Black EVA core that Joma describes as medium-hard. It's for advanced players who attack, and who want a little more give than the HRD offers.

Read SFT as softer than the HRD, not as soft. This is still a competition diamond that Joma rates at 60% power and 40% control. If you want properly soft, look at the Blast Pro SFT instead.

What Joma says is in it

Joma's product page lists a diamond racket with a high balance, the sweet spot offset toward the top of the head. The core is Black EVA, listed as Flexo BlackEVA with a medium-hard feel. The side is 12k carbon fibre, the tubular section is 100% carbon fibre, and the flat section is 66.67% fibreglass and 33.33% 12K carbon fibre, filled with 100% EVA. Joma describes the whole as a competition racket for attacking players that aims at maximum power while still supporting defence and transition play.

Five Joma technologies are named: Dualtech Frame, a 12k carbon structure filled with high-density Black EVA SFT; Joma 3D Spin, a relief texture for topspin and slice; CTRL Touch, perforations that redistribute weight and flex; Aerobump Tech, grooves for aerodynamic flow; and the Speed Hole System, two channels in the core to cut air resistance.

SFT or HRD?

The two Hyper Pros share a shape and a balance. The differences are the core and a few grams. The Hyper Pro HRD has the hard, high-density Black EVA HRD core and is quoted slightly heavier. The SFT is quoted at 350 to 360 g with the medium-hard core, which gives a little more ball output and takes more of the vibration out.

Retailers don't fully agree on the numbers. Padelshop quotes 355 to 365 g and a 38 mm profile for the SFT, while Joma and Padelspeed say 350 to 360 g. Treat the weight as a 350 to 365 g band.

Not for you if

You're still learning the overhead, or you want a racket to carry you through long defensive rallies. Joma rates it for a high, professional level, and a diamond punishes a late swing whichever core it has.

If you're not sure diamond is for you, the whole padel racket range is the place to compare shapes.

Looking after it

Put a racket protector on the frame before the first session, change the overgrip from padel grips when it goes slick, and keep a fresh tube of padel balls in a padel bag with a thermal compartment if your car gets cold. The right court shoes from padel shoes matter for a racket that wants fast footwork.
