Light, flexible and aimed at newer players

Tennis Warehouse calls it a great option for recreational players who want a flexible padel shoe, and says it is made for beginners and casual players. That honesty is useful: a lot of listings promise tour performance from an entry shoe, and this one does not.

The parts match the pitch. IMEVA foam cushions the midsole, and a mid-foot TPU shank and a 180 Plantar Support Chassis keep the middle of the shoe from twisting during side steps. A heel cap holds the back of the foot, and the upper is a lightweight mesh blend with DuraWrap and a moulded EVA sock liner.

The sole, the fit and the sizes

The outsole is Dragguard 7.0, a non-marking rubber in a modified herringbone designed for padel grip and pivoting. A herringbone suits sand, and non-marking rubber suits indoor courts, so it should cope with most UK clubs. Tennis Warehouse lists the surface as all-court.

Fit is true to size, medium width and low arch, with no break-in time. US women's sizes run 6.5 to 9.5 on the page we read, and the colour appears as lavender and white in the spec list and white and purple in the title. We found no UK size chart, so check the size run on the listing.

Where it sits among K-Swiss women's shoes

The entry Tura Team lists no stability features, the Ultra Court adds a heel cap and chassis, and the K-Frame is the performance shoe. The Ultrashot Light has a similar chassis and shank to the Ultra Court at a lower weight, according to the stockist.

The Express Light 3 is the herringbone shoe, and the men's version of this shoe is the Ultrashot Light for men. Our padel shoes for women page lists the other brands.

Who should skip the Ultrashot Light

Players who want lots of cushioning or serious lateral support for frequent, hard play. It is a light recreational shoe, and a heavier shoe with a frame is better for someone playing three times a week.

Not for you if

You play often and hard, or have wide feet. It is made for beginners and casual players, with a medium width. The K-Frame is the sturdier K-Swiss, and our padel shoes page explains how to choose.

Starting out around the Ultrashot Light

A forgiving racket suits the same player. Our best padel racket for beginners page lists them, the womens padel racket page has lighter ones, and the padel racket range covers the rest. Balls are on the padel balls page and overgrips on the padel grips page.

A bag with a shoe pocket keeps sand off your kit, such as the Babolat RH Pro, and the padel bag page lists others. Our guide to choosing a padel racket is the place to start if you are new.
