LOK BE Hype Padel Racket 2024

£41.87

The LOK BE Hype padel racket is LOK's entry-level power racket from 2024: a soft Custom EVA core, a weight of 360 to 375 g and a rebound score of 9.1 out of 10 on Padelful, for players who want some pace without paying for carbon. It has since been replaced by the BE Hype Gen 2.

The one thing to say first is that the sources don't agree on what it is. Padelful calls it a diamond for beginners, and Padel Reference calls it a hybrid teardrop for advanced players. We've set out what's solid, what isn't, and who should buy it.

Two sites, two rackets

Padelful lists a diamond-shaped, beginner racket with a fibreglass face, a carbon fibre frame, a medium-soft feel and a Custom EVA core. Padel Reference lists a teardrop or hybrid with a sanded carbon fibre surface, a soft EVA core, a balanced weight distribution and an advanced to expert level. The weight is 360 to 375 g on both, though Padel Reference's spec table says 360 g.

The solid facts are the soft EVA core, the weight and the high rebound. The shape, the face material and the level aren't solid. Treat it as an inexpensive, soft, mid-heavy racket and judge it by feel.

How it plays

Padelful scores it at 9.1 for rebound, 7.1 for manoeuvrability, 6.6 for power and 6.5 for sweet spot, with control the lowest at 6. It praises the forgiving feel and the durable frame, and warns that a diamond needs precision at the net. In plain terms, the soft core gives you ball output without effort and the head shape is less forgiving than a round racket's.

That makes it a good racket for someone who wants to learn to hit through the ball, and a poor one for someone who struggles to find the middle of the face. It's the kind of racket that suits a player who's already comfortable with a round beginner frame and wants a bit more pace.

Not for you if

You need a racket that forgives mis-hits, or you want a carbon-faced racket for the long term. The sweet spot is modest, control is its weakest score, and Padel Reference's advanced rating makes little sense next to Padelful's beginner one, so don't buy it expecting a pro-level frame.

2024 or Gen 2?

On Padelful's scores the two years are within three points on every measure: the same power, a touch less control, a touch more rebound. If the 2026 BE Hype Gen 2 is available at a similar price, take it for the newer finish. If the 2024 is cheaper, there's no real performance reason to pay more for the new one.
