Both UK listings we read agree on the essentials. The main compartment has a double zip and takes four rackets with your kit. The ThermoTech section is for two rackets, or bottles if you'd rather keep the drinks cold. A side compartment with pockets holds a phone, wallet and keys, and a separate laundry bag keeps damp kit off everything else.

Shoes are the open question. Padel Nuestro's feature table ticks a shoe compartment, but neither its description nor Padel Shack's mentions one. Until we've unpacked one, plan on the laundry bag for shoes.

The handles come off, which turns it into a backpack, and the base is rigid, so it stands up in a changing room rather than slumping over. At about a kilo empty it's light for 55 litres. Padel Shack files it under four-to-six-racket bags, which is generous: four in the main compartment and two in the thermal section is the full load, and it'll be a tight zip with clothes as well.

Tapia's AT10 Team bag is the obvious rival. It's 5 cm longer and slimmer, at 42 litres, with three rackets in the main compartment plus two in the thermal section. The ML10 Team gives you 13 more litres and a fourth racket slot, in a shorter, deeper shape.

If 55 litres won't do, Lamperti's ML10 Competition XL Compact goes to 80 litres and keeps three rackets in its thermal section. If it's too much, the 28-litre Team backpack takes two rackets and your shoes for days when you're travelling light.
