Y1 RX3 Padel Racket (2026)

£117

The Y1 RX3 padel racket is UK brand Y1's 3K carbon teardrop for 2026, built on the same soft AirSpring EVA core as the entry RX1, which makes it the gentlest way onto a carbon face in Y1's range. It suits improvers and intermediate players who want crisper shots without a firm, punishing feel.

Y1's own copy aims it at experienced all-court attackers. The soft core suggests a friendlier racket than that.

The first carbon teardrop, still on the soft core

Y1's teardrops climb in a clear line. The RX1 is fibreglass on the soft AirSpring core; the RX3 swaps the face for 3K carbon twill but keeps that same "10-13" AirSpring EVA; the RX12 and the RX18 then move to Y1's firmer PrecisionTech core with 12K and 18K faces. That makes the RX3 the step where the face changes but the feel underneath doesn't.

In practice a 3K carbon face sends the ball back more directly than fibreglass, while the soft core keeps the response forgiving. The frame is 100% carbon in Y1's double-tube build, with the Texture Control face for spin, OptiFlow holes and a perforated grip. Weight is listed at 355 to 375g, 365g nominal.

Y1 has three 3K rackets, and they all feel different

The 3 in the name tells you the face, not the feel. Y1 puts 3K carbon on three shapes, and each gets a different core. The green AX3 diamond uses EV50 ProFoam, which its listing describes as soft. The round CX3 uses the firmer PrecisionTech core with a cork layer behind the face. The RX3 sits on AirSpring, the core Y1's own RX1 listing calls soft.

So if you want a 3K Y1 with the most comfortable feel and a bit of attacking shape, it's this one or the AX3. If you want the most controlled, damped 3K, it's the CX3.

Even or mid-high? What the listing says

The spec field gives an even balance; the description describes a mid-high balance point that supports overheads. It's the same mismatch we've seen across Y1's listings. Expect a teardrop that sits close to neutral with a little weight towards the head, less than the RX12 or RX18.

Who it suits

Improvers ready to leave a fibreglass racket behind, intermediates who want crisper volleys without arm strain, and players who like a teardrop's mix of control and reach. It sits with our teardrop padel rackets and the best padel rackets for intermediate players.

Not for you if

You want a firm, stiff response to hit through the ball; the soft core gives a cushioned feel by design, and the RX12 or RX18 will suit you better. Complete beginners will also find the fibreglass RX1 kinder. The full padel racket range covers both directions.

Kit for the step up

A carbon face deserves a padel racket protector from day one, and a fresh overgrip from our padel grip range keeps the perforated grip working.

Fresh padel balls, a padel bag to keep the racket out of the heat and proper padel shoes round it off; Y1's racket cover fits too. Our guide on how to choose a padel racket explains how core and face change the feel.

Y1 RX3 Padel Racket (2026): questions people ask

Is the Y1 RX3 the same as the Y1 CX3?

No. Both have a 3K carbon face, but the RX3 is a teardrop on the soft AirSpring core, while the CX3 is round with a firmer PrecisionTech core and a cork layer.

Is the Y1 RX3 a good racket for an improving player?

Yes. It keeps the soft AirSpring core of the beginner RX1 and adds a 3K carbon face, which makes it a comfortable first step onto carbon.

Y1 RX3 or RX12: which should I buy?

Choose the RX3 for a softer, more forgiving feel. The RX12 moves to a 12K face and a firm PrecisionTech core, which suits players who already hit consistently and want more response.

How long will a Y1 RX3 keep its feel?

Soft foam cores lose some liveliness with heavy use, so a player on court several times a week will notice it sooner. A frame protector and a cool, dry place to store it help it last.

What does the Y1 RX3 weigh?

Padel Shack lists 355 to 375g, with 365g as the nominal weight, before an overgrip.
