Y1 RX12 Padel Racket (2025)

£134.70

The Y1 RX12 padel racket is UK brand Y1's 12K carbon teardrop: a stiff carbon face over a firm PrecisionTech EVA core, a mid-high balance and a full-carbon frame, made for intermediate and advanced players who already hit consistently and want more reward when they attack.

It's the teardrop of Y1's three 12K rackets, firmer than the round CX12 and more forgiving than the AX12 diamond. This 2025 edition is the gold one.

The teardrop in Y1's 12K trio

Y1 puts a 12K carbon face on three shapes. The AX12 is the diamond, the CX12 the round control racket, and the RX12 sits between them. A teardrop keeps a reasonably generous sweet spot while moving it a little up the face, which is why it's the shape most club players end up with once they start attacking.

What makes the RX12 feel different from its round sibling is the balance and intent. The CX12 is listed as even and pitched at control; the RX12 is listed mid-high to head-heavy and pitched at power and aggressive play.

How the RX12 is built

Padel Shack's listing for the 2025 RX12 gives a 12K carbon face with a dual-surface finish (Y1's Texture Control and 3D Control Face, both there for spin), a PrecisionTech EVA core it describes as firm and labels 13-15, and a 100% carbon double-tube frame. Weight is listed at 355 to 375g, 365g nominal. Y1's softer AirSpring core, used on the RX1, is labelled 10-13, so this sits at the firmer end of Y1's range.

The balance is listed as head-heavy in the spec field and as a mid-high balance point in the description. Padelspeed, which reviewed the 2026 RX12, also calls it mid-high. Expect a racket that carries some weight towards the tip without feeling like a pure diamond.

What the one review says

The only review we found is from Padelspeed, a UK retailer that sells the racket, and it covers the 2026 RX12 rather than this 2025 edition. With that caveat, it describes a crisp, precise feel from the 12K face, a balance that helps on overheads and volleys, and a mix of forgiveness and attacking reward suited to intermediates who already hit consistently. It also warns that the racket may feel too firm for beginners, which matches what the firm core and stiff face suggest.

Who it suits

Intermediate and advanced players with a repeatable swing who want a teardrop that rewards a full overhead. It sits with our teardrop padel rackets and advanced padel rackets. If you want the same face with a rounder, more controllable feel, the CX12 is the alternative; if you want to go further towards power, look at the AX12.

Not for you if

You're new to padel or still mistime a lot of shots. A stiff 12K face over a firm core gives little back on mishits. Y1's soft RX1 is the gentler teardrop, and the wider padel racket range has plenty of forgiving options.

Kit to go with it

Fit a padel racket protector along the frame from the start, and keep a fresh overgrip from our padel grip range on it; a firm racket transmits more through the handle, and a tacky grip helps you hold it loosely. For the stiffest racket in the line, see the gold RX22P flagship.

Fresh padel balls make the most of the rough face, a padel bag with a thermal pocket protects the carbon, and proper padel shoes keep your footing. Y1's racket cover fits, and our guide on how to choose a padel racket explains teardrop against round and diamond.

Y1 RX12 Padel Racket (2025): questions people ask

Is the Y1 RX12 2025 the same as the RX12 2026?

They share the name, teardrop shape and 12K carbon face. We stock the 2025 gold edition; the review we cite covers the 2026 model, so small details may differ.

What level is the Y1 RX12 for?

Intermediate and advanced players who already hit consistently. The firm core and stiff 12K face reward a clean swing and can feel harsh to beginners.

Y1 RX12 or CX12: which should I choose?

Both have a 12K face and PrecisionTech core. The RX12 is a teardrop with a mid-high balance for attacking; the CX12 is round and even-balanced for control and placement.

How do I protect the Y1 RX12?

Fit a frame protector before your first session, keep it in a covered bag away from car heat, and change the overgrip when it stops feeling tacky.

How heavy is the Y1 RX12?

Padel Shack lists the 2025 RX12 at 355 to 375g, 365g nominal. Padelspeed lists the 2026 model at 355 to 365g.
