adidas Replacement Grip for Padel
£6.69
The adidas replacement grip is a single cushioned base grip for a padel racket: soft, tacky polyurethane listed at 1.8 mm thick, which is more than twice the thickness of an adidas overgrip. It goes directly onto the bare handle, after the old grip comes off, and then you wrap an overgrip on top.
Retailers sell it in black, red and white and one grip to a pack. Most list 72 cm by 2.5 cm, but two list 90 cm by 2 cm, so the size is the one thing to confirm.

Replacement grip or overgrip?
A replacement grip is the layer that sits on the handle itself. Over a few months an overgrip wears out and you replace it. The base grip underneath wears much more slowly, and you only change it when it is worn through, damaged or harder than you like. At 1.8 mm it adds real cushioning and shock absorption to the handle, which is why Central Sports talks up the vibration damping.
A set with an overgrip included is the Shockout Dual Pro. A self-adhesive alternative is the Raquex Enhance base grip. If you want an extra cushioning layer without changing the base grip, the Ariv V4 undergrip goes under the overgrip. Most players never touch the base grip. They wrap a new overgrip every few weeks. If you are replacing a base grip, you are rebuilding the handle, so stock an overgrip too, such as the adidas overgrip 3 pack or a single adidas strip.

The size conflict, and what else is listed
Most listings give 72 cm long and 2.5 cm wide. Padel Shack and Stringers World give 90 cm by 2 cm instead. Both have 1.8 mm thickness. A longer, narrower strip wraps with a different pitch, and either will cover a padel handle, but the difference may change how many turns you get. Check with us if it matters for a specific racket.
Amazon describes 100 per cent polyurethane and adherence in wet conditions, and retailers describe it as soft, tacky and cushioned. We found no weight and no adidas spec sheet. The code AC2BA2BK is the black version, and our listing does not name a colour.
| Part | Job | Pick it if |
|---|---|---|
| adidas replacement grip | Base grip, 1.8 mm | The old grip is worn through or damaged |
| adidas overgrip 3 pack | Overgrip, 0.75 mm | You want to refresh a grip that still has life |
| adidas overgrip box of 45 | Bulk overgrips | You look after a group |
Thickness figures from retailer listings; the others are covered on their own pages.

Who should skip it
Anyone whose racket already has a decent base grip. Most re-gripping only needs an overgrip, and a new base grip makes the handle thicker than you may want. If the handle feels too small, a replacement grip plus an overgrip can fix that, but check against the padel grips page first. Protect the rebuilt handle's frame with a racket protector, and see our guide to choosing a padel racket and the padel racket range if the racket itself is the problem.
Not for you if
You only want to refresh a tired grip. That needs an overgrip, not a 1.8 mm base grip, and the listed length varies between 72 and 90 cm.
