Raquex Enhance Replacement Grip for Padel Rackets

£5.99

The Raquex Enhance replacement grip is a self-adhesive polyurethane base grip, sold with finishing tape, for players who want to re-grip the handle itself and not just wrap an overgrip over it. Retailers list it for padel, tennis, squash and badminton, and describe the surface as tacky and slightly soft.

It comes as one grip. The listings give no thickness, length or width, and they disagree on how many colours there are, so we say what is published and what to check.

What retailers say about the Enhance grip

It is a replacement grip, not an overgrip. That matters because the two do different jobs: the replacement grip is the base layer that sits on the racket handle, and an overgrip is the thin tacky wrap you change every few sessions. The Enhance is the first kind, with an adhesive back and a roll of finishing tape to close the end.

Walmart's listing calls the surface tacky and slightly soft, and Tennishead's promotional page uses words like soft, absorbent and ultra grippy. Those are marketing words, so judge it by feel when it is on the handle.

How thick is it, and do you need a base grip at all?

No listing gives the thickness. The adidas base grip is listed at 1.8 mm and Babolat's Syntec Pro base grip at 1.9 mm, and an overgrip is far thinner at 0.43 to 0.65 mm. A thicker base makes the handle bigger, which can be good if it felt small and awkward if it did not.

A grip-and-overgrip duo is the blue and orange Shockout set. Most players only need an overgrip. Replace the base grip when it is worn through, torn or has lost its cushion, and otherwise freshen the handle with a wrap such as the Head Pro overgrip 3 pack or the Black Crown 12-pack.

Fitting a replacement grip

Strip the old grip and any residue, start at the butt end with the narrow edge, wrap with a slight overlap and finish with the tape. Take it slowly, because a wrinkle shows up as a pressure point in your hand. Our padel grips range has overgrips to go over the top once it is on.

Small kit sits on the padel accessories page, and the padel racket range covers the rest of your set-up. For a damp hand, there is also a seller-claimed anti-sweat spray from Raquex.

Who should skip it

Players who only want a quick refresh, anyone who does not want the handle to get bigger, and buyers who need a stated thickness or a certain colour before they order.

Not for you if

You want a thin, quick wrap, or you need a stated thickness and colour range. The Enhance is a base grip, and the listings give no thickness and disagree on the colours.
