White Babolat Syntec Evo X1 Grip

£4.99

The White Babolat Syntec Evo X1 grip is the white single of Babolat's cushioned Syntec Evo base grip, for players who want a plush handle in white. X1 means a single grip, the code is 670067-101, and the listed thickness is 2.1 mm.

Our catalogue calls it an overgrip, but it is a replacement grip that goes under an overgrip, not over the handle's existing one.

Base grip first, overgrip on top

A base grip is the foundation layer on the bare handle, and an overgrip is a thin wrap you replace often. Put the Evo's 2.1 mm under a 0.55 mm overgrip and, on paper, you get about 2.65 mm of wrap. The real build-up will differ because layers overlap and stretch, but it shows why this combination feels big.

If that sounds too large, the thinner Syntec Pro (the Fluro colourway is one option) is 1.9 mm and the leather grip is 1.45 mm. The full Syntec Evo page covers the grip itself.

How the layers add up. Our arithmetic: 2.1 + 0.55. Layers overlap and stretch, so the real build-up on a handle will differ. Thicknesses from retailer listings and Babolat UK. White Evo X1 is code 670067-101.

Why white

White is the Evo's other colourway alongside black, and it is cosmetic. A white base grip is covered by the overgrip in any case, so choose it if you like the look at the butt cap. A tacky overgrip such as the Comfort Padel sits on top well, and the padel grips page explains the layers.

Who should skip it

Anyone who thinks the listing is an overgrip, since this is not one. If you only want a fresh wrap, buy an overgrip. A thick handle will also not suit small hands, and the padel accessories range has slimmer options, or see the padel racket range for handle sizes.

Not for you if

You want an overgrip. This is a single 2.1 mm replacement grip, despite the name in our catalogue.
