Head Monster Kids Padel Racket 2024

£49.03

The Head Monster Kids padel racket is HEAD's first racket for young children: 300 g, a slim 33 mm frame, a soft foam core and a grip long enough for two hands, made for beginners up to about the age of 10.

We list it as the Monster Junior, but HEAD and most shops call it the Monster Kids. Same racket, same colourful monster design that tends to sell itself to a six-year-old.

Why a small child needs a small racket

An adult padel racket weighs 345 to 375 g and is 38 mm thick. Give that to a six-year-old and the head drops, the swing turns into a shove, and the fun goes out of it quickly. The Monster Kids takes about 50 to 70 g off, slims the frame to 33 mm, and keeps the weight near the hand with a 255 mm balance, so a small arm can actually swing it.

The face is fibreglass on HEAD's Soft Foam, which gives easy depth from a short swing and doesn't jar young wrists. HEAD adds Innegra in the frame and an Integrated Protector System, a moulded carbon bumper that takes the knocks every junior racket gets from the floor.

A grip made for two hands

Lots of small children hold a padel racket with both hands in their first season, the way they'd hold a cricket bat. It's normal, and the Monster Kids is built for it: HEAD gives it a longer-than-usual grip so two small hands fit without crowding. Once your child is playing one-handed and swinging through the ball, it's time to think about the next racket.

What comes after the Monster Kids

HEAD's junior range climbs in small steps. The 310 g Head Speed Junior is the usual next racket, a teardrop on livelier Power Foam for children who rally properly. After that, the 320 g Head Extreme Junior is aimed at juniors of 10 and over with an oversize head. Our kids padel racket page has a height and age chart and every junior racket we stock, including other first rackets such as the Babolat Alioth Mini.

Not for you if

Your child already plays one-handed, swings through the ball and is taller than about 125 cm. A 310 g junior racket will give them more pace and room to grow.

Kit for a first session

Children's sessions go better with a ball that doesn't fly: a club ball such as the Head Padel One tube is ideal, and padel balls has more. Court shoes with a herringbone sole stop slips on sandy turf; the Head Kids Revolt Pro 4.0 comes in junior sizes, and padel shoes has the rest.

A soft overgrip from padel grips helps small hands, and a small bag from padel bags keeps it all together. The full range of rackets, adult and junior, is on padel rackets.

Head Monster Kids Padel Racket 2024: questions people ask

Is the Head Monster Junior the same as the Head Monster Kids?

Yes. We list it as the Monster Junior 2024, but HEAD and most retailers call it the Monster Kids. It is the same 300 g racket with the monster design.

What age is the Head Monster Kids padel racket for?

HEAD describes it as suitable for children up to about 10. In our fitting guide it suits most children from about 5 to 8, or under about 125 cm, before they move to a 310 g junior.

Head Monster Kids or Head Speed Junior: which should I buy?

The Monster Kids is 300 g with a 33 mm frame and a longer grip for two hands, for young beginners. The Speed Junior is a 310 g, 38 mm teardrop on Power Foam for children who already rally.

How heavy is the Head Monster Kids?

HEAD lists 300 g, with a 255 mm balance and a 33 mm frame. That is around 50 to 70 g lighter than an adult racket.

Will a junior padel racket survive a child?

The Monster Kids has a moulded carbon bumper to protect the frame, which helps. Adding protector tape and teaching your child not to scoop balls up off the floor with the edge helps more.
