The Head Extreme Junior padel racket is a 320 g oversize teardrop for juniors aged 10 and over: a fibreglass face on Power Foam, an even balance and a 525 cm² head, for children who rally confidently and want a racket that helps them hit harder.

Who the Extreme Junior is for

HEAD gives this one an age, 10 and over, and pitches it at competitive juniors who want more power. In practice that's the child who has had a season or two on a lighter racket, swings through the ball rather than pushing it, and is starting to play matches. Younger or newer players will find 320 g harder to control; the 310 g Head Speed Junior or the round Head Monster Junior are gentler starts.

An adult-size sweet spot on a junior frame

The headline number is the head size. At 525 cm² on Tennis Nuts' sheet, it matches the oversize head on HEAD's adult Vibe 2025, and it's bigger than the 465 to 475 cm² of the other HEAD adult rackets we have figures for. For a junior that means off-centre hits still come back with some pace, which keeps rallies going and confidence up.

Power Foam is HEAD's livelier core, the fibreglass face is soft and kind to young arms, and the even balance keeps the racket from feeling top-heavy at the net. HEAD adds Innegra for shock absorption and its Integrated Protector System, a carbon bumper around the frame that takes knocks against the floor and glass.

Extreme Junior or another racket?

It's a 2023 model, but nothing in HEAD's later junior range replaces it at this weight on the sheets we have. The Coello Junior 2026 is the newer junior with a famous name, 10 g lighter at 310 g, and last season's Coello Junior in black shares those numbers. Not for you if

Your child is under 10, small for their age, or new to padel. A 300 to 310 g junior racket, or a light round one such as the Babolat's Alioth Junior racket, will be easier to control and more fun to learn with.

What else a junior needs

A soft overgrip such as the HEAD Xtreme Soft three-pack gives small hands a better hold; padel grips has more. Even with the protector system, a strip of tape from the racket protector range along the top of the frame is worth it for a junior.

Is the Head Extreme Junior the same as an adult Head Extreme?

No. It shares the Extreme name and design, but it is a 320 g oversize teardrop for juniors. The adult Extreme rackets are 350 to 370 g, and all but the Evo Extreme are diamonds.

What age is the Head Extreme Junior for?

HEAD says 10 and over. It suits juniors who already rally and want more power; younger or newer players usually do better with a 300 to 310 g racket.
