Oxdog No1 Protector for Padel Rackets

£4.98

The Oxdog No1 protector is a single adhesive strip, 372 x 40 mm, that wraps over the top of a padel racket's frame to take the scrapes instead of the paint. Total Padel says it's made for rackets with a normal edge profile, so it's for players with a standard frame who'd rather replace a strip than a racket.

Oxdog numbers its protectors. This is the No1, the wider one: the transparent No2 and No3 are listed at 372 x 35 mm.

Which Oxdog protector is the No1?

Tennis Warehouse Europe and Total Padel both give the No1 as 372 x 40 mm. The transparent No2 and No3 appear on other shops at 372 x 35 mm, so the No1 is 5 mm wider. Our photo shows a clear to white film strip with an Oxdog X logo at each end; retailers don't state a colour for the No1 in the pages we found.

Wider isn't automatically better. A frame with a slim edge profile may prefer the narrower strip, and a wide, rounded frame will welcome the extra 5 mm.

Fitting it

Clean and dry the top of the frame, peel the backing gradually and press the strip down from the middle outwards. Leave it overnight before you play. It protects the frame without changing how the racket plays, and the rules allow items stuck to a racket to limit wear if they're reasonable in size and position.

Replace it when it lifts or tears; a strip that has gone ragged is worse than none because it catches the floor.

Oxdog No1 Protector for Padel Rackets: questions people ask

How big is the Oxdog No1 frame protector?

Tennis Warehouse Europe and Total Padel list 372 x 40 mm.

What is the difference between Oxdog No1, No2 and No3 protectors?

Retailers list the transparent No2 and No3 at 372 x 35 mm and the No1 at 372 x 40 mm, so the No1 is the widest of the three.

Will the Oxdog No1 protector fit my racket?

It is made for rackets with a normal edge profile. If your frame is unusually slim or wide, hold the strip against it first.

Does a frame protector change how a padel racket plays?

Not noticeably. It is a thin adhesive strip that shields the top of the frame from scrapes.
