Genius Red review: a racket that is easy to move and easy to hit well with

Padelful's scores are manoeuvrability 9.2, sweet spot 8.7, control 8.3, rebound 8.3 and power 7.6. The pros are very easy handling, a large forgiving sweet spot and a controlled bandeja and vibora. The cons are limited raw smash power, little free ball exit and modest aggression at the net.

In plain English, it is a racket for rallying. The head is round, the weight is mid-range and the response is controlled and forgiving, so you can get it into position fast and place the ball without fighting it. It will not do your smashing for you.

Grouped bar chart of Padelful ratings for the Enebe Genius Red, Genius Blue and Black Crown Piton 14 on control, manoeuvrability, sweet spot and power

Genius Red or Genius Blue?

Enebe also makes a Genius Blue, which Padelful scores 8.4 overall as well. The Blue has a medium-hard EVA core and leans more towards control at 9.2, with power at 7.8 and a firmer touch. The Red has the medium core, the better handling and sweet spot, and a softer, more forgiving feel. Our listing is the Red.

If you are comparing with another round control racket, the nearest alternative we sell is the Black Crown Piton 14, which Padelful scores almost identically. For a softer, cheaper step down, look at the Enebe Astra or the Response Pink, and for a harder-hitting Enebe, the Mustang Silver 3K or the livelier Mustang Esmerald 15K. The lively tear-shaped Response 24K Violet is another carbon option, and the Hirostar Andromeda is a lighter soft-cored rival.
