Head Gravity Team Light Padel Racket 2024

£74.95

The Head Gravity Team Light padel racket is the lightest racket in Head's round, control-first Gravity range: 340 g of fibreglass over Control Foam, built for beginners, lighter adults and improving club players who want long, comfortable rallies. Head describes it as easy to play with and aims it at casual and intermediate players.

Light doesn't mean flimsy here. Head's Graphene 360+ in the frame and a 270 mm balance give it a little more substance than its weight suggests.

Who the Head Gravity Team Light padel racket is for

Three kinds of player get the most from it. Beginners who want a round, forgiving head and nothing heavy to swing. Lighter adults, often women and juniors moving up from a children's racket, who find 360 g rackets tiring by the end of a session. And improving club players who win points by keeping the ball in and want control more than pace.

The round head puts the sweet spot in the middle of the face, and Head says the Control Foam enlarges it further. A smooth fibreglass hitting surface gives a comfortable, slightly springy contact, which Head describes as adding comfort and easy power. There's an integrated protector system around the frame too, which helps when new players catch the glass.

How light is it, and what does 270 mm mean?

Head lists 340 g on its spec sheet with the usual 10 g tolerance, and one of Head's own pages gives 339 g. That makes it one of the lightest adult rackets in Head's range; of the Head rackets we list, only the specialist 300 g One Ultralight is lighter.

Balance is where the shops disagree. Tennis Nuts calls it even, others call it low, and Head's product page and two retailers give 270 mm from the butt. On a 340 g frame, 270 mm doesn't make it head-heavy in feel; it simply means the little weight there is sits slightly up the frame, which gives volleys a bit of free depth without tiring the wrist.

Shops call it even or low; the number says neither. Light overall, but its weight sits slightly up the frame: easy to swing, with a little free depth on volleys. Balance from the butt: Head's product page (Team Light) and Head's sheet via TWE (Pro). Outline illustrative, lines not to scale.

Gravity Team Light vs Gravity Team, Motion and Pro

All four 2024 Gravity rackets are round and built on Control Foam. The Team Light is the lightest. The Gravity Team adds weight on the same fibreglass recipe for club players who want a little more solidity, the Gravity Motion sits in between with Head's Spin Surface, and the Gravity Pro is the advanced, carbon-woven version at 365 g.

Most players who start on the Team Light move to the Gravity Team or Motion within a season or two, once their swing is grooved. That's a good sign, not a problem: the shape and the feel carry over.

Gravity Team Light or Radical Team Light?

Head makes a near-twin in its Radical family. The Radical Team Light is the 2026 edition of the same idea: 340 g, round, fibreglass on Control Foam, 270 mm. On the published numbers there isn't much between them, so the choice comes down to season and look. The Radical is the newer design; the Gravity is the one that sits inside a whole range of round rackets you can grow into.

When to choose something heavier

If you already hit hard, a 340 g racket will feel like it gets pushed around by heavy balls; the 360 g Gravity Team or a teardrop gives you more stability. Strong tennis players coming across often fall into this group. The beginner padel rackets page and the control padel rackets range both have heavier round options.

Not for you if

You want power from the racket, you play several times a week at a good level, or you are a strong adult who swings fast. Light fibreglass frames run out of answers against hard-hitting opponents. Look at the Gravity Team, or a teardrop from the teardrop padel rackets range.

A first kit around the Gravity Team Light

An overgrip first: light rackets twist in a sweaty hand, so a Head Xtreme Soft three-pack is worth fitting before the first session. The padel grips page explains why. The integrated protector helps, but a strip from the racket protector range costs little and saves the rim.

For balls, a tube of Head One suits relaxed games, and our padel balls guide covers the rest. A Head Tour backpack or anything from the padel bag range carries it, and proper padel shoes matter more than any racket in the first month.

Lighter players might also like our women's padel rackets page, which lines up light frames from every brand, and the cheap padel rackets page covers the budget band. The full padel racket range and the guide on how to choose a padel racket cover everything else.

Head Gravity Team Light Padel Racket 2024: questions people ask

Is the Head Gravity Team Light the same as the Gravity Team?

No. Both are round 2024 Gravity rackets on Control Foam with fibreglass faces, but the Team Light is the lightest of the range at 340 g. The Gravity Team is heavier, for players who want more stability against hard balls.

Is the Head Gravity Team Light padel racket good for beginners?

Yes. It is round, light and soft, with a central sweet spot, and Head aims it at casual and intermediate players. It suits beginners and lighter adults especially well; strong adults who swing fast may prefer a heavier racket.

Gravity Team Light or Radical Team Light: which should I buy?

On paper they are very close: both 340 g, round, fibreglass on Control Foam, 270 mm balance. The Radical Team Light is the 2026 design; the Gravity Team Light is 2024. Choose on season and look, or by which family you might grow into.

How long will a Head Gravity Team Light last?

With weekly play, a fibreglass racket like this usually gives a season or two before the foam loses its liveliness. Keep it in a cover, out of hot cars, and tape the rim to stop chips.

How heavy is the Head Gravity Team Light?

Head lists 340 g with a tolerance of 10 g, and one Head page gives 339 g. The head is 490 cm², the profile 38 mm, and Head's product page puts the balance at 270 mm.

Is the Gravity Team Light a good racket for women?

It suits many women and lighter players because of its weight, but it is a unisex racket rather than a women's edition. Weight and swing speed matter more than gender; if 340 g feels right in the hand, it's a good choice.
