Varlion LW Carbon 3 Summum Padel Racket (2025)

£226.16

The Varlion LW Carbon 3 Summum padel racket is Varlion's control round: 340 to 355 g, an 18K carbon and fibreglass face, a Prisma frame and the long Summum handle, built for technical players who build points with placement and spin. Padelgids calls it a reissue of Varlion's best-selling racket.

Padelful gives control and manoeuvrability 9, sweet spot 8.8 and power only 7.2. It is quick, compact and generous in the middle, and it does not do flat smashes for you. Sources disagree on the core, medium or hard, and on the balance wording.

What the LW Carbon 3 Summum is

In Varlion's naming, LW is the round head and Summum is the longer handle: Padelgids lists a 14.5 cm grip and a wider hitting area. Carbon 3 refers to the face and core variant in the family. Padelful lists a 7 Rhombus 18K carbon face with fibreglass over a SOFTCOLOR EVA core on a bidirectional carbon tubular Prisma frame.

Varlion's patented extras, per Padelgids, are a Wings Diffuser in the bridge, an ErgoSlice texture that helps slice and spin, Ergoholes in a progressive layout and a Handlesafety strap that runs through the grip. The listing also says a cover and an adhesive protector come with it.

How it plays: a quick, broad control racket

Padelful's pros are a broad central sweet spot, quick blocks and net preparation, and precise spin on bandejas. It describes a control-first racket with a compact response for players who build points with placement and spin rather than raw power, and it singles out technical players, especially on the right side of the court.

The limits come with the shape. Passive defence lands short, flat smash momentum is limited and off-centre contact loses stability. The weight and balance lack the inertia that makes flat smashes easy, so you supply the pace, with spin and angle as your friends.

Medium core or hard core? Low balance or medium-high?

Padelful describes a medium-hardness SOFTCOLOR EVA core, while Padelgids and Varlion's own listing, as shown in search results, say hard core and recommend it for temperatures under 25 degrees. Padelgids gives a medium-high balance. Padelful gives no balance figure and says the racket lacks inertia. One Padelshop page lists medium. Weight, shape and the Prisma frame match on all of them.

If we had to bet, the racket feels firm to the hand and sits close to the middle of the balance range, with a head that does not carry a lot of mass. Level wording runs from technical players to advanced, and the year label is 2025 on one source and 2026 on another.

Round LW or one of its relatives

The Bourne Prisma Carbon Soft is the diamond of the same family, and Padelful scores it far higher for power and far lower for sweet spot. For a lighter, softer round racket look at the LW Carbon Black Orquidea. The ElbowCare versions, the LW Cube ElbowCare S and the W, add vibration damping. For a teardrop, see the Maxima Prisma Carbon Soft.

Who should skip the LW Carbon 3 Summum

Players who win with the smash, and players who defend passively from the back. A round racket with little inertia asks you to create the pace. If power is the aim, see our diamond padel rackets, and if you are new to padel our beginner padel rackets page lists easier starting points.

Not for you if

You want flat smash power, you defend passively or you need a settled core and balance description. Padelful gives power 7.2 and lists limited flat smash momentum as a con.
