Varlion LW Carbon Black Orquidea Padel Racket (2025)

£208.76

The Varlion LW Carbon Black Orquidea is a light, soft round racket for control-minded intermediates: 340 to 355 g, a 12K carbon and fibreglass face, a Hexagon frame and a soft EVA core, built for players who defend, block and lob rather than smash. It is the all-black colourway of Varlion's LW Carbon, also sold as Goldblack.

Padelful rates manoeuvrability 9.1 and sweet spot 8.8, with control 8.6 and power only 6. That is a racket that forgives you and does not hit through the ball for you. Sellers agree on the build and disagree on the balance wording and the handle length.

What the Black Orquidea is

In Varlion's family, LW is the round head and Orquidea is a colourway name. Padelful lists a Carbon 7 Rhombus 12K face with fibreglass over a soft SOFTCOLOR core on a bidirectional carbon tubular Hexagon frame. Padelgids adds a soft, rough ErgoSlice texture, Wings Diffuser air channelling, a self-adhesive AB protector and a cover in the box.

Notice the frame. This racket uses the older Hexagon frame, where the LW Carbon 3 Summum uses the newer Prisma frame, and its face is 12K rather than 18K. That is part of why it plays softer and lighter.

How it plays: light, forgiving and defensive

Padelful's pros list quick back-glass returns, a forgiving central sweet spot and accurate blocks and low lobs. It describes a light, quick racket for defensive play that suits compact, precise shots more than power hitting. If you spend your match resetting the point, this is its habitat.

Expect the trade. Flat-smash power is limited, off-centre contact is less stable and volleys lack penetrating weight. Think of a racket that gets everything back and leaves the winning to your placement.

Balance, handle length and the year label

Padelful says the racket is not head-heavy and gives no figure. Padelgids says mid to low balance, and in search results one stockist says low and another medium. Weight runs 340 to 355 g on most pages, and one lists 345 to 360 g. The handle is the odd one: Padelgids shows a 12 cm handle yet also mentions the longer 14.5 cm Summum grip, so check which you want.

Level wording is control-minded intermediate on both pages, and the year is 2025 on Padelful and 2026 on Padelgids, with a 2025/2026 collection. We read it as one racket.

Orquidea or another round Varlion

For a firmer round with a longer handle choose the LW Carbon 3 Summum. For arm protection with a foam core, look at the LW Cube ElbowCare W or the stiffer S version. If you want power instead, the diamond Bourne Prisma Carbon Soft is the other end of the range. Who should skip the Black Orquidea

Anyone who wants to hit winners from the back, or who relies on a heavy, penetrating volley. Padelful's own cons are limited flat-smash power, shaky off-centre stability and light volleys. If you need more pace, our intermediate padel rackets page covers racket choices with more bite, and complete beginners can start from our beginner padel rackets page.

Not for you if

You want flat smash power, you volley for winners or you need a settled balance and handle description. Padelful gives power 6 and lists limited flat-smash power as a con.

Setting it up

A light racket takes a fresh overgrip from our padel grips range well, and the included AB protector is worth supplementing with a racket protector if you play often. Use good padel balls, wear proper padel shoes and carry it in a padel bag.

For the basics of shape and weight, our guide to choosing a padel racket explains it, and the full padel racket range has the rest.
