Black Crown Gladius Force Padel Racket 2026

£153

The Black Crown Gladius Force padel racket is the harder-cored version of the Gladius: a precise, crisp racket for intermediate-plus and advanced players who prioritise accuracy, stable blocks and controlled overheads. It has an 18K carbon face on a carbon frame, a hard black EVA core and a listed weight of 355 to 370 g.

Padelful scores it 8.0 overall, with control at 8.7 and power at 7.5. Other sites call it the power-oriented Gladius, so the reviews disagree about how much punch the harder core adds. This page sets out the evidence on both sides.

Gladius Force review: precise, dry and a bit demanding

Padelful describes stable, predictable handling, a clean, disciplined ball exit and controlled bandejas and víboras. Control is the standout at 8.7, and rebound and manoeuvrability both score 8.0. The balance sits in a zone that stays workable in transitions and at the net without being top-heavy.

The downsides are the ones a hard core brings. Padelful says defence needs solid technique, there is limited free pop from the baseline and overheads need full acceleration from the player. It suits intermediate-plus and advanced players who value precision over easy power.

Other sources frame it differently. PadelVerdict's page on the Gladius calls the Force the harder-cored, power-oriented sibling, and a Spanish retailer calls it the most accessible power racket in the Black Crown line. Padelful's own power score is 7.5, the lowest on its sheet, so we would not buy it for pop alone.

Gladius Force or the Gladius?

The faces match, 18K carbon, and the weight band is the same, 355 to 370 g. The difference is the core. The Black Crown Gladius has a medium black EVA core and a firm feel with comfort as its weak point, while the Force goes to a hard black EVA core and a drier, crisper response.

If you want the softer end of the family, the round Piton White Soft is the gentle one. The soft Hurricane Confort 4.0 is another comfort-first Black Crown. If your elbow is sensitive, a hard core will make a firm racket firmer, and the Gladius or a softer round racket is the safer buy.

Is the Gladius Force hybrid or tear shaped?
