Black Crown Piton Padel Racket

£98.53

The Black Crown Piton padel racket is the Spanish brand's best-known round racket, for intermediate and advanced players who build points with control and placement. Black Crown has numbered it year by year, from the Piton 9.0 in 2021 to the Piton 14 in 2026, and the current racket is a 3K carbon round with a medium feel.

This listing is the plain Black Crown Piton, with no year in its title. We list about 365 g and a low balance for it from the brand's sheet, but we have not matched it to a generation, so ask us before you order. For a dated Piton, use the Piton 14 or one of its siblings below.

Which Piton is this? The generations explained

Black Crown has renamed its Piton once a year: 9.0 for 2021, 10 for 2022, 11 for 2023, 12 for 2024, 13 for 2025 and 14 for 2026. Padelful reviews several of them, and the 2022 and the 14 are the two we can compare properly. Unlike many brands, Black Crown keeps the name while the racket changes underneath, so two rackets called the Piton can feel quite different.

That is why this listing needs a caveat. It carries no year, and the brand's sheet gives about 365 g and a low balance. Padelful's 2022 Piton is listed at 365 to 375 g, which fits, but a fit is not a match. We would rather say so than guess.

Timeline of the Black Crown Piton racket from the Piton 9.0 in 2021 through Piton 10, 11, 12 and 13 to the Piton 14 in 2026

The Piton 14: control first, quicker hands

Padelful scores the 2026 Piton 14 at 8.3 overall. Manoeuvrability leads at 8.6, with rebound and sweet spot at 8.5 and control at 8.4. Power is 7.6. The reviewer calls it a control-first racket with enough bite to keep the attack honest, with a clean response and a generous, centred sweet spot, and notes the bandeja and víbora are solid.

The weaknesses are what a control racket usually gives up: limited free power on smashes, aggressive first volleys that lack punch, and defence that needs good preparation. The racket is not trying to do your work for you.

Bar chart of Padelful ratings for the Black Crown Piton 14 (2026): manoeuvrability 8.6, rebound 8.5, sweet spot 8.5, control 8.4, power 7.6

Piton 14 against the 2022 Piton

Set the 14 beside the 2022 Piton and the trade is clear. The 2022 racket scores higher on power, 8.3 against 7.6, and on control, 9.2 against 8.4, and it has a medium-hard feel. The 14 has the better rebound, 8.5 against 7.7, and handles faster, 8.6 against 8.1. Padelful rates the 2024 Piton 12 at power 8.0, control 8.9 and rebound 8.0, so the line moved gently from firm and controlled towards lively and quick.

If you want a firm, precise round racket, a 2022 Piton may still suit you. If you want one that is easier on the arm and quicker to react, the 14 is the better choice.

Who should skip the Piton

Anyone who wants an easy finisher: reviewers say the Piton 14 lacks free power on smashes. Beginners are better on a softer first racket, and our beginner padel rackets page starts there. For a child, the light fibreglass Piton Junior is the family's junior racket. If you need to know exactly what you are buying, a dated Piton is safer than this undated listing. If you want a hybrid instead of a round head, the 18K Black Crown Gladius is the alternative. Its harder-cored sibling is the Gladius Force. For a round-to-teardrop handling racket from the same brand, see the Hurricane Pro 3.0.

Not for you if

You want a big smash from a light swing, you are new to the game, or you need the exact generation confirmed: this listing does not state it.

Setting up a Piton

A racket protector goes on first; the Piton's rough Sandspin finish is a wearing surface, not an armour. A fresh overgrip from the padel grips page helps control, and a tube of balls from our padel balls range keeps the response honest. Carry it in a padel bag and wear padel shoes built for sand-filled turf.

Black Crown Piton Padel Racket: questions people ask

What is the latest Black Crown Piton?

The Piton 14, for 2026. Black Crown has numbered the line one a year since the Piton 9.0 in 2021.

Is the plain Black Crown Piton the same as the Piton 14?

Not necessarily. This listing carries no year, and we list about 365 g with a low balance for it, which we have not matched to a generation. Ask us before you order.

Is the Black Crown Piton good for intermediate players?

Yes. It is a round, control-first racket with a generous, centred sweet spot, and Padelful says it suits players who build points rather than blast them.

How does the Piton compare with the Black Crown Gladius?

The Piton is round and control-first; the Gladius is an 18K hybrid that the brand splits 45% power and 55% control, so it leans to control too. Compare the two listings before you choose.

How heavy is the Black Crown Piton 14?

Listed at 355 to 370 g. Black Crown publishes no balance point in millimetres that we could find.

Is the Piton 14 better than older Pitons?

It handles faster and rebounds better than the 2022, but scores lower on power and control. Which is better depends on whether you want quickness or firmness.
