Wilson Defy V1 Padel Racket (2025)

£122.50

The Wilson Defy V1 is the middle racket in Wilson's 2025 diamond range: 365 g, a 3K carbon face, a Power Foam core and a 38 mm profile, for experienced players who want attacking power without the full weight of the Pro. It sits between the lighter Defy LS V1 and the 15K Defy Pro V1.

Padelful scores it 8.5 overall, with control at 9, power 8.4 and sweet spot 8.5, and notes only a minor drawback in movement. Sellers use four different words for the same balance figure, which we untangle below.

How the Defy V1 plays

Padelful describes a medium feel with strong power, good control, a forgiving sweet spot for a diamond, good volleys and solid vibration damping. The Power Foam core is there to help ball output, and the 3K carbon face is the softer, more forgiving grade next to the Pro's 15K. Tennis Warehouse adds Spin² texture on the face.

That mix makes it a diamond you can grow into. It rewards a player who already finishes points at the net, but it is not as unforgiving as the heaviest attackers.

One balance figure, four labels

Look up the Defy V1 and you will see the same 265 mm figure described as medium-low by Tennis Warehouse, medium to head heavy by Padelshop, mid-to-high by Padelful and high by Padelgids. The number is the same; the vocabulary is not. Level wording splits too: Tennis Warehouse says intermediate to advanced, while Padelful and Wilson's own copy aim it at advanced players.

Read it as a diamond with the weight pushed towards the head, but not as extreme as some. If the balance label matters to you, go by the millimetre figure.

Which Defy to pick

Choose the LS if arm comfort and swing speed matter most, the V1 if you want the standard build, and the Pro if you hit hard and want the stiffest face. Other diamonds are on our diamond padel rackets page, and a softer-feeling Wilson in another shape is the Carbon Force LT.

Who should skip the Defy V1

Beginners, because a diamond has a smaller sweet spot than a round racket, and players who struggle with a head-weighted swing. Start with our beginner padel rackets, then step up through intermediate padel rackets towards advanced padel rackets.

A diamond takes knocks at the frame, so add a racket protector and a fresh overgrip from our padel grips range. Use fresh padel balls, wear proper padel shoes and carry it in the Wilson Defy bag. Our guide to choosing a padel racket explains shape and weight, and the whole padel racket range is a click away.

Not for you if

You are new to padel, or you want a racket where the balance and level labels all agree. The sellers do not.
