Head Speed Team Padel Racket 2025

£98.95

The Head Speed Team padel racket is the club player's Speed: a 365 g fibreglass teardrop on Power Foam with a 270 mm balance, the step up for improvers who have outgrown an entry racket but don't want carbon's firmer feel yet. Head describes it as a blend of power and control.

It is also one of the bounciest rackets Head makes. Padelful gives it 9.6 for rebound, which you will notice on the first soft volley.

Where the Head Speed Team padel racket fits

Head's Speed family is a ladder of teardrops. At the bottom sits the soft, 350 g Evo Speed; at the top, the carbon Speed Pro at 370 g. The Speed Team is the rung most improvers should stand on next. It keeps the fibreglass face that makes entry rackets comfortable, swaps the Evo's Soft Foam for livelier Power Foam, adds Graphene in the frame for stability, and puts 15 g more mass behind the ball.

The face is smooth, by the way. Some spec lists call it textured, but Tennis Nuts, Stringers World and Central Sports all give smooth.

Head Speed Team review: how it plays

Padelful's 2025 ratings are 9.6 for rebound, 8.4 for manoeuvrability, 8.1 for sweet spot, 8.0 for control and 7.2 for power, with a medium-soft feel and an overall 8.3. Its reviewer puts the rebound simply: balls come off the racket with consistency. Blocks travel deep, lobs need little effort, and a short volley at the net still has some pace on it.

Power, at 7.2, is respectable rather than strong. The 270 mm balance gives the overhead a little help, but a fibreglass face won't produce the snap of carbon. That is the trade at this level, and for most club players it's the right one.

Evo Speed, Speed Team or Speed Pro?

Put the three Speeds side by side on Padelful's numbers and the progression is clear. Power climbs from 5.6 to 7.2 to 8.4, control from 7.1 to 8.0 to 8.6. Rebound peaks on the Team, which is the softest-feeling of the three to play with. The Evo is the beginner's racket, the Team the improver's, the Pro the advanced player's.

Two other Heads are worth a look at the same stage. The Head Vibe is lighter at 350 g on the same Power Foam, a good choice for smaller players. And the Speed Motion brings carbon into the face at 355 g for players ready for a firmer response.

Is the Speed Team right for you?

It is right for a player a season or two in, who wants more pace than an entry racket gives without losing its comfort. Head labels it intermediate, which fits. The intermediate padel rackets page lines up the alternatives from other brands.

Not for you if

You want spin from a textured face (this one is smooth), you already hit hard enough to want carbon, or you are a complete beginner who would be better on a round racket. For a round, forgiving start, the control padel rackets page is the place to look.

Kit for a Speed Team player

Fit an overgrip such as the Head Xtreme Soft three-pack and change it before it gets smooth; our padel grips page explains how often. The Anti-Shock Skin on the frame is replaceable, and tape from the racket protector range adds a layer where the glass hits.

A lively racket pairs well with a controllable ball indoors, such as the Head Pro+ dozen, and the padel balls page explains why a firmer ball suits cold courts. Carry it in a bag from the padel bag range and play in shoes from padel shoes.

Comparing teardrops more widely? The teardrop padel rackets page covers every brand, and the full padel racket range is there too. Our guide to choosing a padel racket explains weight and balance.

Head Speed Team Padel Racket 2025: questions people ask

Is the Head Speed Team the same as the Evo Speed?

No. Both are fibreglass teardrops in the Speed family, but the Speed Team is 365 g on Power Foam with Graphene in the frame, while the Evo Speed is 350 g on Soft Foam. The Team has more power and control; the Evo is softer and easier for beginners.

What level is the Head Speed Team padel racket for?

Intermediate, by Head's label: players a season or two in who want more pace than an entry racket gives. Complete beginners usually do better with the Evo Speed or a round racket first.

Head Speed Team or Speed Pro?

The Speed Team is the fibreglass club racket at 365 g; the Speed Pro is the 370 g Hybrid Woven version for advanced players. Padelful scores the Pro higher for power (8.4 against 7.2) and control (8.6 against 8.0), and the Team higher for rebound.

How long does a Head Speed Team last?

With weekly play, a season or two before the Power Foam loses some liveliness is typical for a fibreglass racket. Keeping the Anti-Shock Skin in place, storing it in a cover and avoiding heat all help.

How heavy is the Head Speed Team 2025?

Head lists 365 g with a 10 g tolerance either way, a 270 mm balance and a 38 mm profile.

Does the Head Speed Team have a textured face?

No. UK retailers including Tennis Nuts list a smooth fibreglass surface. If you want help with spin from the face, look for Head rackets with Spin Surface or Extreme Spin finishes instead.
