Black Crown Viva Padel Racket (2026)

£75

The Black Crown Viva padel racket is the brand's entry racket for 2026, built for beginners and early improvers: a round head, a low-to-even balance and a listed weight of 355 to 370 g. It is the racket Black Crown puts at the start of its range, below the Piton and the Special line.

The spec sheet argues with itself. Black Crown's description says a soft EVA core and fibreglass faces on a fibreglass frame, while its spec table says 3K carbon and a carbon frame. Retailers side with the fibreglass description, so that is what this page assumes.

Viva review: what a beginner racket should do, and what we can say

A starter racket needs to be forgiving, predictable and cheap enough not to worry about, and a round head with a soft core and fibreglass faces ticks all three. Black Crown splits the play 50 and 50 between power and control, calls the category Rookie, and retailers present it as the most affordable racket in the 2026 collection.

We found no independent test of the Viva and no Padelful page, so we cannot give ratings. What we can say is what the brand and retailers print: round, low balance, 355 to 370 g, and a control-first character. If you want a score before buying, there isn't one yet.

Where the Viva sits in the Black Crown range

Black Crown's other rackets are aimed higher. The Iconic and the Piton 14 are listed for intermediate to advanced players, and the Special Max is the brand's top attacker. The Viva is the gentle first step, which is why it is round and soft.

When you outgrow it, the sensible next move is the softer, forgiving Piton White Soft or the Iconic, not a jump to the firm top-end rackets. Our beginner padel rackets page compares other brands' starters, and a carbon-faced step up inside the brand is the Win Carbon. If weight is the worry, the Win Ultralight is far lighter, and the Enebe Astra and Enebe Point Light are other soft starters.

Who should skip the Viva

Players who already hit with control and want to finish points, and anyone who will not be happy without a carbon face. If you want to compare cheap rackets from across the market, the cheap padel racket page lists them, and the control padel rackets page covers the shape.

Not for you if

You want a carbon face, a power racket or a racket with independent ratings. The spec sheet contradicts itself on the face material and no reviewer has scored the Viva yet.

Setting up a Viva

Start with a racket protector, because beginners meet the glass more than they expect, then add a tacky overgrip from the padel grips range. Pressurised padel balls and proper padel shoes do more for your first month than a racket upgrade, and a padel bag keeps it protected.

Our guide to choosing a padel racket explains shape and weight, and the full padel racket range has the rest.

Black Crown Viva Padel Racket (2026): questions people ask

Is the Black Crown Viva a good beginner padel racket?

Yes. It is Black Crown's entry racket, with a round head and a soft, control-first build. Retailers list it for beginners and early improvers.

Is the Black Crown Viva carbon or fibreglass?

Black Crown's own page disagrees with itself. The description says fibreglass faces and the spec table says 3K carbon. Retailers say fibreglass, which fits its price.

Is the Black Crown Viva round or teardrop?

Round. Black Crown and every retailer we found agree, which suits a beginner who wants a big, forgiving sweet spot.

How heavy is the Black Crown Viva?

Listings give 355 to 370 g, and one UK shop says 360 to 370 g. Pick by feel in hand.

What is the difference between the Black Crown Viva and the Rebel?

Both are entry-level Black Crown rackets. We are still confirming which season we list for the Rebel, so check its page before you compare them.

Can I use the Black Crown Viva when I improve?

For a while. Most players want more feel after a season or so, and the Piton White Soft or the Iconic are the gentle next steps from the same brand.
