Wilson Match Point Padel Racket (2026)

£59.95

The Wilson Match Point padel racket is a round, soft and forgiving beginner racket: about 360 g with an even balance, a low-density foam core and a woven fibreglass build, listed by Padel Shack as a starter for people picking up the game. It is among the lower-priced ways into a Wilson, and it is made for the first few months of play, not the fifth year.

The evidence is short. We found one stockist listing for this exact racket and no independent test, so there are no ratings below. What the listing and a second round Match Point listing agree on is the shape, the weight and the level, and we say plainly where that stops.

What the Wilson Match Point is

A round racket with an oversized head. Padel Shack lists it as 360 g, with an even balance that it describes as manoeuvrable and steady in the hand, a soft low-density foam core and a woven fibreglass build. The surface is smooth, with drilled holes meant to add bite, and the page calls it an excellent starter racket.

The oversized head is the clever bit for a newcomer. A round face puts the sweet spot in the middle, where a beginner is most likely to hit, and a big head gives you more margin on the swing you have not learned yet.

What we know, and what we do not

One stockist page described this racket in our research, and we found no Wilson sheet or independent review for it. Search results for the Match Point name also turned up the Match Point Elite, a separate Wilson racket listed as round, 360 g, 45 cm long and 38 mm thick for beginners. We could not read that listing in full, so we use it only as a pointer to the family.

That leaves a clear picture of the shape, the weight and the audience, and no verified figures for balance in millimetres, face material beyond the listing's words or model year beyond the colourway. If a distributor or Wilson publishes a sheet, this page will change.

How it should play for a beginner

We have no test data, so this is what the specification implies rather than a verdict. A soft foam core and a woven fibreglass build usually mean a gentle hit, easy depth from a smooth swing and little vibration. A round head means a forgiving centre, and an even balance should keep it easy to swing at the net.

What you should not expect is bite and pace. Soft, fibreglass entry rackets give up power, and if you start hitting hard flat smashes inside a season you will outgrow it. That is the normal bargain at this price, and it is a good one for a first racket.

Match Point against other Wilson beginner rackets

Dunlop's round Megamax is the closest rival from another brand. Wilson has several entry rackets, and only some have been independently scored. The Optix Lite V2 is the other round one, listed at 350 to 360 g, and Padelful scores it 8.2 with power at 5.8. The Optix Power V2 is the teardrop version at 7.1 on Padelful, and the Wilson Blade Power is another single-listing teardrop. If you want a soft carbon-glass step up, look at the Wilson Carbon Force or the quick Accent LT.

Who should skip the Match Point

Anyone who has played a season or more. A soft fibreglass racket will feel limp once your swing speeds up, and our intermediate padel rackets page covers the next step. If you want independent scores before buying, the Optix Lite V2 is the better-documented Wilson, and our beginner padel rackets page compares the whole field.

Not for you if

You have played for a season, you want power, or you need independent test numbers. Only one stockist listing described this racket in our research and we found no independent score.

What to buy with it

Fit a racket protector from day one, because a first racket takes a few knocks off the glass, and a fresh overgrip from our padel grips range helps with sweaty hands. Spend a little on proper padel balls and good padel shoes, which do more for a beginner than the racket, and a padel bag finishes the set.

Wilson Match Point Padel Racket (2026): questions people ask

Is the Wilson Match Point the same as the Match Point Elite?

No. They are separate Wilson rackets in the same family. The Elite is also listed as a round beginner racket at 360 g. Check the exact name before you order.

Is the Wilson Match Point good for beginners?

It is built for them. The listing describes a round, oversized head, a soft foam core and woven fibreglass at 360 g. We found no independent test, so treat it as a sensible starter.

Is the Wilson Match Point better than the Optix Lite V2?

The Optix Lite V2 has a Padelful score of 8.2, while we found none for the Match Point. Both are round beginner rackets, so choose on what you can verify.

How heavy is the Wilson Match Point?

The listing gives 360 g, which sits in the middle of the usual adult beginner range.

How long will the Wilson Match Point last before I outgrow it?

A soft fibreglass racket suits the first months of play. Players who start hitting hard smashes within a season usually want more power and move on.

Is the Wilson Match Point round or teardrop?

Round. Both the Padel Shack listing and a Match Point Elite listing say round, which puts the sweet spot in the centre of the face.
