Dunlop Megamax Padel Racket (Silver 2026)

£43.97

The Dunlop Megamax is Dunlop's entry-level round racket, built for complete beginners who want a soft, forgiving first racket: about 360 g, a Pro EVA core and fibreglass construction, with a round head that keeps the sweet spot in the middle. This is the Silver 2026 colourway, and the same racket has been sold in Black and Green in 2025.

Padelful scores the 2025 Megamax Green 5.8 overall, with power at 4.9 and control at 5.9. That is low next to the best starters, and we say so. It earns its place as a trial racket, a spare or a lesson-block racket, not as the one you keep for years.

What the Dunlop Megamax is

Tennisnuts lists it as a round, control-focused beginner racket at 360 to 370 g, with a soft Pro EVA core that absorbs vibration, a fibreglass frame, a smooth face and a 38 mm profile. There are no named technologies beyond the core, and Tennisnuts's staff reviewer calls it forgiving and comfortable but not designed for advanced spin or elite power.

Dunlop sells the Megamax under several colour names. Black and Green were 2025, and Silver is 2026. Retailers treat them as the same entry model, and the specification we found does not change between them.

How it plays

Padelful's pros are the standard ones for a round starter: a generous sweet spot, a comfortable medium-soft feel, decent rebound and good handling at the net. A round head sits the sweet spot in the middle of the face, where a newcomer actually hits the ball, and the soft core takes the sting out of mis-hits.

Power is the weakness, at 4.9, and the overall score of 5.8 is modest. Think of it as a racket that lets you rally, not one that helps you finish. Within a season of regular play, most people will start wanting something with more bite.

Where the listings differ

The two sources we could read agree on the basics: round, beginner, EVA core and a fibreglass frame. They differ on small things. Tennisnuts says the face is graphite with a smooth texture, while Padelful lists fibreglass for both face and frame. Tennisnuts calls the balance medium and even, though a shape guide on the same page says round heads are low balance, and Padelful gives no balance figure. Weight is 360 to 370 g on one and 355 to 375 g on the other.

None of this changes who the racket is for. If you want to be sure of the face material, the safest reading is fibreglass, since it is the construction both sources describe for the frame and the lower price band.

Megamax or a better-scored Dunlop starter?

If you can stretch a little, Dunlop's own FX Start is the stronger beginner racket. Padelful scores the Dunlop FX Start at 8.3, with a sweet spot of 9.3, and it is a soft fibreglass teardrop. The Nanomax Lite is a 350 g hybrid for beginners that we found no score for, and its heavier sibling the Nanomax Pro is a roughly 365 g versatile racket. For an improving player, the Galactica Lite is last season's light carbon hybrid, and the Galactica Team is its even-balance sibling. The Tristorm Lite is a light diamond for improvers.

Other brands have round starters too, such as the Wilson Match Point. For more choice, browse our control padel racket page for round frames or the cheap padel racket page for budget picks.

Who should skip the Megamax

Anyone who plans to play every week for more than a few months, anyone who wants power and anyone whose arm needs a better-damped racket than a basic fibreglass frame. Our beginner padel rackets page lists stronger starters, and our intermediate padel rackets page covers the next step.

Not for you if

You want power, you will play often or you want a racket to keep for years. Padelful gives power 4.9 and overall 5.8, and the FX Start scores 8.3 in the same range.

What to buy with it

Add a racket protector, because a first racket takes knocks, and a fresh overgrip from our padel grips range. Proper padel balls, such as Dunlop's Pro Padel, a starter bag such as the Dunlop Club bag and good padel shoes matter more to a beginner than the racket, and a padel bag keeps it all together.

Dunlop Megamax Padel Racket (Silver 2026): questions people ask

Is the Dunlop Megamax Silver 2026 the same as the Megamax Black or Green 2025?

Retailers treat them as the same entry model in different colours and seasons. The specification we found stays the same: round, beginner, EVA core, fibreglass construction.

Is the Dunlop Megamax good for beginners?

It is built for them. A round head, soft core and medium-soft feel are forgiving, though Padelful scores it only 5.8 overall, so it is a starter, not a long-term racket.

Is the Dunlop Megamax better than the Dunlop FX Start?

No on the evidence. Padelful scores the FX Start 8.3 against 5.8 for the Megamax. The Megamax is the simpler, round alternative.

How heavy is the Dunlop Megamax?

Tennisnuts lists 360 to 370 g and Padelful lists 355 and 375 g. Expect a racket around 360 g.

Does the Dunlop Megamax have much power?

No. Power is its lowest Padelful score at 4.9, and Tennisnuts says it is not designed for elite power.

How long will I use the Dunlop Megamax before upgrading?

That depends on how often you play. Most weekly players start wanting more bite within a season, which is normal for a soft fibreglass starter.
